The Gnats won their first home game of the second half, defeating the Rome Braves 4-2 on Friday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.
The Gnats (5-4/49-26) took a 3-2 lead on Champ Stuart’s two-run single through the left side in the bottom of the fourth inning. Stuart reached base three times with walks in the first and seven innings in addition to his fourth inning single.
After the Gnats' fourth, Savannah starter Alex Panteliodis retired 10 batters in a row through the end of the seventh inning. Panteliodis allowed just two unearned runs in his 7.2 innings to earn his first win for 2014.
The Gnats added an insurance run in the eighth to establish the final margin of 4-2. Catcher Colton Plaia drilled a double down the right field line to chase home Jorge Rivero for the run.
Rome (2-7/26-63) grabbed a 2-1 lead with unearned runs in both the second and fourth innings.
The Gnats will send RHP Chris Flexen (3-5, 5.03) to the hill Saturday to take on Yean Carlos Gil (3-4, 3.54). Fans can enjoy another spectacular fireworks show after the game.
