6/2/15

Mets Minor League Games - 6-1-15

One win with hitting, 2 wins without.

Minor League Player of The Night - Logan Taylor for his 7 shutout innings.

Honorable Mention - L J Mazzilli and Dominic Smith support Logan with some fine hitting.

AAA - Las Vegas - (29-23) 1- Nashville (24-27) 5

    RHSP Tyler Pill - 7 IP, 5 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HR, 6.96

Again no hitting to speak of. Again Tyler Pill surrenders homers. Now in double digits in HR allowed.

AA - Binghamton -   no game scheduled

A+ - St. Lucie (26-25) 5  -  Fort Myers (24-27) 1

    RHSP Logan Taylor -   7.0-IP, 3-H, 0-R, 4-K, 3-BB, 4.96

    1B Dominic Smith  -  2-4, 1-R, 2-doubles, .267

    2B LJ Mazzilli -    2-4, 1-R, 1-HR (1), 2-RBI, .500

Mack - 'Maz' wasted little time reminding everyone he was back, hitting his first home run of the season. Word I got today from a source in St. Lucie is that he will not be spending very long there. Consider his time at the A+ level this season almost a rehab session and he will go on to Binghamton where there is a big talent hole at second base.

Tough season for Logan Taylor so far, but he tossed a gem last night for his first win. Dom Smith doubles juggernaut rolls on - 15 in the last 20 games,

A -  Asheville (22-29) 5  -  Savannah (24-27) 3

    LHSP Brad Wieck -  5.1-IP, 6-H, 4-R, 6-K, 1-BB, 3.49

    CF Patrick Biondi  -  2-5, 1-R,  .303

    1B Jon Leroux  -  2-4, .213

Brad Wieck not great last night, but hit his strikeout quota.  Hitters not great either, but Becerra recorded his 11th double of the year. Nice .456 slug % for the 20 year old. Biondi quietly sneaks over .300, but no power to speak of demonstrated this year.
Rookie - DSL 1 (2-0) 2  -  DSL Rockies (0-2) 1

    RHSP Richard Reina -  5.0-IP, 1-H, 1-R, 7-K, 1-BB, 1.80

    2B Edgardo Fermin  -  2-5, 1-RBI, .250

Mack - Fermin is a big time 2014 bonus baby signed for $250,000

    DH Tulio Garcia  -  0-5, 4-K, 0.00

Mack - Garcia is a big time 2014 bonus baby signed for $175,000.

Rookie - DSL 2 - Lost 5-4

GOAT: Tyler Pill

I again wonder if Dom Smith could play another position (3B or OF), knowing speed isn't his game. 15 doubles in 20 games isn't a fluke. It is someone who figured it out, who has a great deal of hitting talent. Duda should not be going anywhere for 5 years, so time to think about this. Smith may just come very fast, so think ahead. Turns 20 in 2 weeks.

Now that the Dominican Summer Leagues have begun,

The primary guys to keep an eye on the DSL2 team are IF Kenny Hernandez and IF Yoel Romero.

On the DSL1 team its RHP Jhoander Chourio, IF Edgardo Fermin, LHP Daniel Guzman, and OF Tulio Garcia.

I am glad NOT to see C Ali Sanchez name on either of the DSL teams. He crushed DSL pitching last year and it sounds like he's coming stateside in 2015 for most likely the GCL team.

Good to know, Chris. I retract my Dom Smith point, lefties don't play 3B. Duh.
