6/4/15
Mets Minor League Games - 6-3-15
3 close losses and a win on a mundane night.
Minor League Player of The Night - Matt Reynolds 3 run pop
Honorable Mention - Smith and Cecchini both stay scorching hot with 2 hits apiece. Throw in Tom Nido for 2 hits, one a homer, and Casey Delgado for a 2nd straight fine outing.
AAA - Las Vegas - (29-25) 3 - Memphis (28-26) 4
Mack - Las Vegas went into this game scoring 7 runs total in their last 7 games.
RHSP Logan Verrett - 3.2 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 3 K
Boy it looked like it might be different tonight...2 hits and a 3 run homer by Matt Reynolds in the first before a batter was retired. But Lost Vegas stopped hitting again, with 4 hits and no runs the rest of the way. Twelve Ks by Vegas hitters. Lots and lots of losses lately. Scott Rice allowed a Verrett runner to score, allowed 2 more runs for the loss.
A serious question: why is a 35 year old guy like Brook Conrad (.206) starting at 1B? Put anyone else there with a hint of prospect status and much younger. If not a 1B, like Cory Vaughn, teach him. Anything but wasting at bats on a journeyman with no future.
AA - Trenton (29-24) 6 - Binghamton (26-26) 4
RHSP Gabriel Ynoa - 6.0-IP, 9-H, 3-R, 1-K, 0-BB, 4.70
RHRP Bobby Parnell - 1.0-IP, 3-H, 3-R, 0-K, 2-BB, 18.69
Mack - Very bad luck for Parnell. Mark Payton hit a routine fly ball - Jared King had no idea where it was going and it dropped in for a ground rule double and tied game, Binghamton radio announcers were complaining that Parnell continues to cost the Binghamton team victories. Has given up 9-ER in last 2.1-IP over 3-rehab games. Total for 12 minor league games this season: 17-ER, 21-H, 13-BB, 11-IP.
Simply put, Parnell will come to the close of his rehab and NOT show the Mets that he has the ability to continue as a major league pitcher.
SS Gavin Cecchini - 2-4, 1-R, .335
Mack - This was Cecchini's 6th straight multi-hit game... impressive.
Gabe Ynoa has another game with high hits and low K's...a disturbing combo.
A+ - Bradenton (24-29) 5 - St. Lucie (27-26) 4
Mack - Both C Travis d'Arnaud and 2B Dilson Herrera will start their rehab tomorrow for St. Lucie
RHSP Kevin McGowan - 5.0-IP, 7-H, 5-R, 1-K, 3-BB, 5.13
1B Dominic Smith - 2-4, 1-R, .277
LF Stefan Sabol - 2-4, 1-R, double, 1-RBI, .333
No double for Smith tonight, but his hitting tear continues with 2 more hits.
A - Savannah (26-27) 5 - Asheville (22-31) 3
RHSP Casey Delgado - 6.0-IP, 6-H, 3-R, 4-K, 2-BB, 1.80
C Tomas Nido - 2-4, 1-R, 1-HR (3), 1-RBI, .248
LHRP Alberto Baldonado - 2.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 2-K, 0-BB, 1.98
It is not surprising that Asheville lost, making 5 errors. Their shortstop has made an astonishing 21 errors already this season. Savannah is 19-11 in their last 30 contests.
Rookie - DSL 1 Yankees (3-1) 21 - DSL 1 (3-1) 2
RHSP Edwin German - 2.1-IP, 5-H, 6-R, 3-K, 1-BB, 15.43
2B-P Rafael Valdez - 2-4, .333
1B Domingo Martinez - 2-3, .375
If you're gonna lose a game, lose by 19. Make it really count.
Rookie - DSL 2 -
GOAT: Parnell, who may not be ready for some time at this rate.

That was my comment on Conrad. I'd rather see Met farm teams play young guys all the time. Even if it means losing more.
Point I blogged yesterday: I do not know if another 200 at bats for Muno last year would have made him better this year. But he lost a ton of at bats last year to going nowhere Anthony Seratelli. I'd only use old guys sparingly and in emergencies in the minors.
