• Senga will be shut down through this week and into next week before being re-evaluated. The general rule is that a pitcher needs as much time to build back up as he was shut down, so if Senga is down two weeks total before throwing again, it would take about another two weeks for him to return. A timeline of just after the All-Star break is probably as good as the Mets can hope for.

• Mark Vientos will start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Syracuse.

• Montas had his worst rehab start yet Friday. There’s only time for one more minor-league start before his 30-day rehab clock expires June 22. Montas says he’s healthy and progressing toward where he wants to be; if the Mets deem he hasn’t made enough progress, his return could be in the bullpen.

• Jose Siri had a setback, with reimaging of his fractured tibia revealing it had not healed as much as the Mets had hoped. Siri is backing off running and baseball activities for about two weeks and will be re-evaluated. President of baseball operations David Stearns said Siri is still “a ways away.”

• Jesse Winker is still “multiple weeks away” from a rehab assignment, Stearns said.

Congrats to our client DYLAN ROSS on his promotion to Triple-A. This is one of the hardest working young men we know. We are very proud of what you're doing on the field, Dylan. This is another step in your journey, big guy. Enjoy this new challenge!

38. New York Mets – RHP Gage Wood, Arkansas

Slot Value: $2,569,400

If you’re looking for the ability to miss bats with the fastball, look no further than Arkansas’ Gage Wood. The secondaries haven’t quite caught up with the fastball but Wood would (see what I did there?) likely flourish as a starter in a strong Mets pitching development environment.

Lotta good work here. We need comments. Gage Wood? Impressive. Another Dylan Ross? Ross has 23(?) pro innings. In AAA. WOW.

Poor Pete. Freddie is a future HOF in a big market having a big year. Good for Lindor.

Think back to 1969…which players pulled obliques and missed half seasons or, like minter, needed surgery? Can I say nobody? Do something different.
And hamstrings? Senga hurt it covering first. They used to sac bunt MUCH more, and unless it wasa twisted ankle, can you recall in the old days guys pulling up lame and missing 6 weeks? I can’t. Do something different.

IfJett Williams hadn’t missed so much time in 2024, he’d be replacing Acuna right now. His ability to get on base is much better. His defense has improved, too.

When Vientos comes back, could we see Acuna go down? Can Mauricio handle the backup SS duties? (not that it happens very often with Lindor playing everyday)

Mack Ade said...

And then he goes out and throws a no-hitter with 19 K in the CWS yesterday

So much for him being around at 1.38

Mack Ade said...

Probably right

Tom Brennan said...

The Gage is on the red line.

Mack Ade said...

Yes, Mauricio could and Baty could be an emergency replacement here

Jon, I do think Acuna is going down. He is overmatched. He needs to be in AAA until September.
