Bisons Add RHP Jim Ed Warden
Reliever was with Buffalo in 2007
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today announced that RHP Jim Ed Warden has been promoted to the team from the Binghamton Mets (AA). Warden is expected to be in uniform for tonight’s game in Toledo.
Warden, 30, was signed as a free agent by the Mets on June 13, 2009. Since then, he has posted a 1.42ERA in 20 relief appearances with the B-Mets to go along with an 0-1 record and one save. He has allowed just 22 hits while striking out 21 batters in 25.1 innings of work. Warden has been particularly tough against right-handed hitters, who only average .189 (10-53) off him while at Binghamton.
Warden began the 2009 season with the Southern Maryland BlueClaws of the Independent Atlantic League. He was leading the league in 13 saves before he joined the Mets. The Cleveland Indians’ 6th-round pick in the 2001 draft, Warden pitched 16 games with the Bisons in 2007. He was 1-1 with a 7.33ERA in 23.1 innings of work for the Herd.
