I probably could have
come up with a sexier title for this post, but sexy has been getting me in
trouble lately.
The inspiration for
this post is what David Rubin said earlier.
There are a lot of questions right now involving this team and lately, it seems
like an awful lot a games should have been won. Well, the fact may be we were
lucky they were in the game as long as they were.
This team has a first
baseman that can’t hit, a second baseman that can’t field, a shortstop, left
fielder, and catcher on the DL, a centerfielder that should be in the minors,
and a right fielder still trying to learn how to play there.
Add to that, erratic
rotation pitchers, virtually no support for their ace, and a bullpen from
hunger… and they’re still in a pennant race.
Oh yeah…
They have David Wright.
For now.
Folks, this is a
division that could wind up having a last place team with a record over .500.
None of this is being done without any of the future pitchers that we talk
about here. This is good shit baseball and you need to just enjoy the hell out
of it while it lasts. Mike Baxter hitting .400? Really?
My thoughts?
Ike Davis – I don’t care where he plays as long
as he plays every day.
Kirk
Nieuwenhuis – ditto
David Wright – stay away from him… don’t talk to
him… don’t even look at him
Daniel Murphy
– ditto
Johan Santana
– just thank him every
time you pass him
Josh Thole – sometimes it takes going away to be
a appreciated
Ruben Tejada – tell him to take his time… we need
him long term
Jason Bay – he definitely needs about 568 more
opinions over the next 1 ½ years…
Lucas Duda – take him over to the World’s Fair
site and hit him some grounders…
