Friday night in Milwaukee, trailing 2-0 in the top of the
ninth, the Mets scored 3 times on 3 successive hits off Francisco Rodriguez.
They Mets stun the Brewers with a come from behind 3-2 win. The Mets were blanked for 8 innings by Yovani
Gallardo and Will Smith. In the top of the 9th, Daniel Murphy who
had committed a key error that led to the Brewers scoring, doubled. David Wright then singled him home to
make it 2-1. Then Lucas Duda hit the first pitch he saw from F-Rod over the
wall in right to take the lead, for Duda his career high 17th homer
and 2nd in two nights. Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched
great. He went 6 2/3 allowing 3 hits, 2 runs 1 earned walking 2 and striking
out 9 He gets the no decision. The only earned run Wheeler allowed was a long
solo homer by former Met Carlos Gomez, his 15th on the year. Carlos Torres gets
the win in relief he’s now 5-4. F-Rod
takes the loss failing to 4-4. Jenrry
Mejia pitched the 9th and notched his 4th save on the road
trip and his 14th on the year.
Murph had 2 errors on the night but also went 3 for 4 at the plate.
Wright went 2 for 4. The Mets now stand
at 49-54 on the year and 24-31 on the road.
Saturday night it’s game three of the series. Jonathon Niese (5-5 3.13) goes for the Mets, Wily Peralta (11-6 3.58) goes for the Brewers.
