Sunday afternoon at Miller Park Jacob deGrom tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings earning his 5th win, the Mets manage a split in their four game series with the Brewers with a 2-0 win. The game was a duel between to young hard throwing righties deGrom and Jimmy Nelson for Milwaukee. The game was scoreless in the top of the 6th when Daniel Murphy doubled and then came home on a long 2 run blast by Lucas Duda, his 18th on the year and 3rd of the series. That’s all the Mets needed. deGrom went 6 1/3 scoreless allowing 4 hits walking 2 and striking out 4. Vic Black got out of a mini-one out jam in the 7th. Jeurys Familia pitched the 8th and Jenrry Mejia pitched the 9th for this 15th save on the year. deGrom who at one point was 1-5 is now 5-5 on the season and his era drops to 2.79 on the year. The Mets only managed 7 hits on the game, Murphy and Chris Young each had 2 apiece. With the win the Mets finish this 10 game road trip at 5-5. The Mets are 25-32 on the road and 50-55 overall. Monday the Mets are home to start a 6 game home stand facing the Phillies and Giants. Monday night Bartolo Colon (9-8 4.03) goes for the Mets, A.J. Burnett (6-9 3.86) goes for Philadelphia.
