July 26th 2014 -- Brewers 4, Mets 2
Saturday night in Milwaukee the Brewers scored three times off Jonathon Niese in the bottom of 5th inning to take the lead for good. The Brewers come from behind to beat the Mets 5-2. The Mets got off to a 2-0 lead early. In the 3rd Lucas Duda hit an RBI line single to bring home Curtis Granderson with the first run. In the 5th Granderson hit a line homer down the line in right, his 15th, and hit as 2-0 Mets. Niese was sailing along till the 5th. The Brewers broke through with 3 runs on 4 hits to take the lead for good. Niese uncorked a wild pitch to score Jean Segura with the first run. Jonathon Lucroy hit a long RBI double to tie it at 2. Ryan Braun singled in Lucroy and it was 3-2. Carlos Torres relieved Niese and in the 6th Mark Reynolds hit a long solo homer to center (17) off Torres to make it 4-2. In the 8th Khris Davis hit an RBI double off Torres scoring Rickie Weeks to make it 5-2. Niese went 5 allowing 4 hits 3 runs (all earned) he walked 2 and struck out 4. He takes the loss falling to 5-6. Wily Peralta got the win he improves to 12-6. K-Rod pitched the 9th and notched his 30th save on the year. Offensively for the Mets Daniel Murphy, Granderson and Chris Young each added 2 hits apiece. Granderson snapped an 0-17 slide with the double and homer on the day. The Mets now stand at 49-55 on the year and 24-32 on the road. The Mets are 4-5 on this 10 game road trip. They look to finish the trip at .500 and manage a split with the Brewers with a win on Sunday afternoon. Jacob deGrom (4-5 3.08) goes for the Mets, Jimmy Nelson (1-1 5.06) goes for the Brewers.
