Tuesday night at Citi Field, Chase Utley hit a grand slam in the 7th inning off Josh Edgin to break the game open; the Phillies beat the Mets 6-0. Dillon Gee started for the Mets and looked to be in better form than his previous two starts. Gee gave up solo homers to Jimmy Rollins (14) and Grady Sizemore (1) in the 3rd and 4th innings respectively. In the top of the 7th Gee loaded the bases with 2 out and was relieved by Josh Edgin who came in to face Utley. Utley then clubbed a grand slam (9) to right to make it 6-0, for Utley his 5th career grand slam. Meanwhile Cole Hamels who has been always been an easy mark for the Mets was terrific on the night. He blanked the Mets over 8 innings allowing just 6 hits. Gee went 6 2/3 allowing 5 hits 5 runs (all earned) walking 3 and striking out 2. He takes the loss falling to 4-4. Hamels picks up the win improving to 6-5. The Mets are shut out for the 9th time this season. With the loss the Mets fall to 51-56 on the year and are now 26-24 at Citi.
