Yep, Thor pitched great. In my lower minor Top 20 Cluster, Blake Taylor also was highly impressive, as were the human cyborg Wilmer Becerra, and the guy who'd sound great over a Spanish TV network, Oswaldo Caraballo. Those 2 had 6 hits and 5 ribbies.
Tempting though it might be to think of him as not good enough, Matt den Dekker does what he always does - keeps improving. Since Mets sent him back down, he's been up about 125 times. How does a slash line of .400/.470/.680 grab you? WOW! Equally impressive is his drop in Ks - just one every 7 at bats over that stretch. On the other hand, Kirk K'd 3 times last nite. Might be a switch in addresses if those two trends keep up.
I just keep thinking how good our OF defense would be with den Dekker in left and Lagares in center. I have a feeling that Matt is going to get his chance with another organization and have himself a nice little ML career. I don't see the Mets FO giving him a real shot to win a spot in the Citi OF. Funny, as cheap (broke) as the Wilpons are, you'd think that giving real shots to guys like MdD, Campbell, Brown and Flores would appeal, but apparently not.
Also, Dilson Hererra! 3-4 last night with a triple and another bomb. I also see he got ejected in the 8th inning. Must've been for smoking in the dugout, cuz that kid is on fire.
in the spirit of "how much worse can it be?" I would like to see a radical effort to see what the Vegas Mets could provide on ML level. just like the 86 team relied on platoon, I would love to see (never happen) EY, CY, Abreu and Murphy move on and be replaced with

this team is not going to the playoffs, so let the kids run out there and see who might stick. straight platoons in OF, two games in a row for each, so no one gets iced on the bench, and find a few OF at bats for EC. all of the kid OF are above average defenders, so late inning pinch hitting against opposite handed pitching works and they all have a bit of pop and speed. If everyone is so high on Flores bat, he should at least match DM production and maybe even exceed. can Puello hit ML hitting? maybe not, be we know CY cant and Abreu has cooled since his start and is a hazard in the field. what is their to lose? none of the players (outside of DM) are going to be with the team next year anyways, so let us see if we can get lucky with one or two like JL last year.
Great to see Thor getting it together. He should be ready to go when Colon is shipped out.
or if they manage his innings properly in Vegas, he can step in for deGrom in Sept when he hits his limit
I agree Kirk and MdD should switch.
Dilson Herrera is having just about as good a season as you can have in the minors.
