Any chance Buccera moves up to Brooklyn when Comforto goes to GA? Nice to give him a month to see if he is a candidate for a full season start next year in Savannah.

Good thinking on Wuimer...hopefully he does get promo. Man, lots of encouraging starting pitching yesterday..Thor, Oswalt, Church, Hefner. Good stuff

Becerra has earned a promotion. Not sure if they will move Conforto as they want to compete in the NY Penn league.

As the days go by you have to get more and more excited about the pitching we see coming up in the organization. Add Almeida and Massie to your list of encouraging starters. And Leathersich looks like he will be dominant when he gats called up.

it is nice to see that the minors have restocked on arms, even if in lower levels at this point, inventory is the key metric when it comes to continually producing ML talent; so few cut it, so there has to be an abundance to continue. What has been more promising about the Farm is that there finally has been some advancement on the positional side of things, even though it is at the lower levels. Herrara may have taken the biggest steps forward in the entire minor leagues; no one saw this kind of jump. Then add in Nimmo, Plawecki, Smith, Rosario, Comforto and Bucerra, not to mention MDD has caught up with his league (even PCL) TJ Rivera and Danny Muno are flashing UI qualities, Eudy Pina, Jeff McNeil, Jared King,Champ Stuart, Jhoan Urena and yes, even Gavin Cecchini have taken steps forward. Cecchini is scuffling in STL, but he played quite well in Savannah, so might be adjustment and he catches up with his league by returning to better play. He will never reach the 1st round level, but he still shows ML potential on some level. Graduating as many as they have over the past two years and having the sort of high end pitching stock along with a increasing inventory on the positional side of things demonstrates a very healthy system for a team that already has a lock down staff moving forward and probably on three positional needs in the short term: LF, SS and 2B if they move Murphy. My biggest disappointment in the Farm is Puello; not sure what the deal is here, but he is not even being given a chance to step forward. confounding because if last season was any indication of what he might become, the LF issue would be solved by next year. I don't know if he does or doesn't, but you are not going to find out by benching him all the time. Must be a behavior thing, because his play has flashed at times, which is weird because he always got props for attitude. I mean, Anthony Serratelli blocking him? the guy has never and will never play in the majors and he takes ABs away from Puello and Muno? don't get it

Church with probably, no DEFINITELY his best pro start since being a HUGe reach by the mets in the 2nd rd in last years draft, of course to save a few $'s instead of drafting the Mariners # 7 top prospect, Austin Wilson.

Many of us would have been ok with the Mets drafting in the 1st rd and in case you were wondering, Wilson has a .309/.394/.551 slash line, with 12 hrs, 52 RBI's, in High A as a 22 yr old. He clearly looks the part as a 6'4 , 250 monster middle of the order bat we could have had St. Lucie or possibly Binghamton right now.

It would nice to have added another top 10 or so prospect to add to our system instead of Andrew Church who has been disappointing to say the least, so this outing finally gives us something to be happy about given we passed on Wilson who was the very next pick after we selected Church.

Last time I checked, we had lots of pitching depth in the system and very little OF power bats to speak of, so I'm still confused as to why we passed on Wilson for Church, besides the obvious $$$$.

Every time I see both of their names, I can't help but think of the other and wish we picked Wilson to add to the trade chips we have to make a blockbuster deal for a superstar that this team so desperately desires.

Conforto, Nimmo & Wilson could have been our 2016 OF of the future to join our already stellar pitching staff, bullpen, plus Duda/Smith at 1b, Wright at 3B, Murphy/Herrera at 2B, D'Arnaud/Plawecki at Catcher and just need to figure out SS out of Cecchini maybe or Rosario only a year or two away.

Hopefully Puello could turn things around and be that guy since there's very little else to get excited about by way of OF prospects right now. I hope Grandy will still be producing in 2016, which seems unlikely.

I will NEVER get over not drafting Wilson... or Courtney Hawkins

Mack, i remember how bad you were pushing for Hawkins, while I wanted them to be aggressive and draft Lucas Giolito instead of Gavin Cecchini. I liked Hawkins too and he's only 20 in High A with a .255/.337/.476 line, 17 Hrs, 69 Rbis with a lot of K's but still better than Cecchini's career #'s so far.

Giolito missed some time with TJS, but is currently the Nats # 1 rated prospect p, 7-2, .217 ERA, .181 avg against, 94 k's in 83 innings and .96 Whip would be nice to have in our system for the 20 yr old in high a.

Not playing Monday morning QB, I wanted Giolito with the first pick and Joey Gallo with our 2nd pick, which we took Kevin Plawecki, which I'm not terribly disappointed with, but Gallo is Texas's # 1 prospect and leads all minor leagues with 37 Hrs & 97 RBI's with a .299 avg.

I doing this since you can't change what happened, but these were some obvious moves if you were an aggressive GM with owner ships full support to do what it takes to build a winner, ie Theo Epstein, Ben Cherington, Dave Dombrowski, etc.

Just imagine the position we would be in adding Lucas Giolito, Joey Gallo and Austin Wilson to our system instead of Gavin Cecchini, Kevin Plawecki & Andrew Church like many of us arm chair GM's were proactively pushing for before these selections were made. That right there is how you build a #1 ranked farm system and set up your team for pro longed, long term success for many, many years to come!

Closer -

You and I are not supposed to know more than they do when it comes to drafting talent.

Wilson, Giolito, Hawkins, Gallo were all no brainers... to you and me and many others... but my guess is money came into play

Of course money was a problem and with the cap it make things harder but if you are aggresive early, you can adjust to make up for it later and draft a few more college seniors. Or, co cheap early and overslot later, but the Mets don't do much of either really.

A few over slots here and there but nothing to get too excited about. They basically stick to slot and don't even go the allowable 5% overage before penalties are given.

They talk about building from within but they don't even spend the $'s allotted to them. I think they spent around $40,000 less than the draft pool they were given, while the aggressive GMs that aren't afraid to do what it takes all spent the 5% overage they are allowed to spend. Always the minimum with the ownership/GM, always the minimum!!

The Yankees arent afraid to spend $10M+ on the international market when they only have $2.5M or so to improve their depleting farm system. In 5-6 years from now, they'll have a top farm system and be able to reload from within, while we sign 1 top 30 prospect, Kenny Hernandez, which will hopefully be official in a few weeks when he turns 16, while the Yankees sign 8-10 of them. Sure they can't be that aggressive next year, but who cares, they got there hands on a bunch of guys and in 2016, they'll just reload again with 8-10 more guys to add.

It's just sad to think where we could be if we had someone like Theo Epstein in the front office, the way hes turned the Cubs farm system from pathetic to Top 1-2. The Billy Wagner debacle, giving K-Rod & Angel Pagan for nothing, Frank Francisco, Jason Bay, etc..

Sure, Sandy has made some good trades, Beltran, Dickey, Byrd bright back huge returns, but it's been 8 long years since we've had a winner and we need to do EVERYTHING we can do make this a championship team since us Mets fans deserve better, I just wish we had an ownership team that would do the right thing and provide us with the resources to do whatever it takes to do so. We'll never have a perennial winner as long as the Wilpons own this team. We may have a few good seasons here and there, but nothing like the Yankees/Braves had for 15 or so years.
