Gsellman looks like another future rotation guy. The Marvelous Molina certainly does. TJ rivera remains an under-regarded hitting machine. Great to see Montgomery have a nice outing...maybe it is starting to come together for him.
Puello 2-4, 2 RBI and 2 steals is a nice game, would really like to see him out there everyday. It is not like he has hit below .200, so performance alone can't be it. I mean both Vaughn and Brown had terrible June/July and Anthony Serratelli is a career minor league infielder; how can they not find him ABs? Were Puello to catch fire at any point this season and flashed neared the EL performance, it would have been the most important development on the Farm, short of DeGrom, but it was not even given a real chance to happen, which confounds me. Like I said, can't be performance alone, he has not been like .100 awful at any point, has actually had some streaks (recently) his competition (Brown, Vaughn, Serratelli) have not been great and plenty of teams give high ceiling players a few months in the doldrums to figure it out. To stunt the CHANCE he actually is as good as he was last year, given the desperate current Met need for exactly what he was last year borders on stupidity. He must have done something real bad to someone, because nothing would have made Sandy's life easier than Cesar Puello being real and ready to compete for LF/RF starting in 2015. The fan base would be only talking about upgrading SS and if DW could bounce. Failure to truly explore this path this year doesn't make any sense
Bobby Abreu is also in Puello's way since as soon as they drop him, they can bring up Den Decker to give Puello plenty of playing time. We can also move CY out and bring up Andrew Brown, who deserves CY's ABs also.
