Mets Minor League Report: August 8, 2014 - Abbreviated Version






 

Sorry for the abbreviated version, but I got home from the Mets - Phillies game too late to write it up in detail.

 

Las Vegas - 9, Albuquerque 6.


The 51’s scored 5 runs in their last at bat (bottom of the 8th) for the win.

Starter John Lannan did not fare too well, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits in 4.0 innings.

Chase Bradford (W, 2-1) pitched the 8th and got the win by being in the right place at the right time.

Gonzalez Germen (S, 4) got the save by being in the right place at the right time.

Matt den Dekker was pulled before he could get an AB, so he could join the big club upon Chris Young’s DFA.

dD’s replacement, Allan Dykstra, went 3-4 with a 2B and a 3B.

 

 

 

Harrisburg - 2, Binghamton - 1


Gabbriel Ynoa (L, 2-1) takes the loss despite a “quality start”.

Not much offense tonight.

 

Fort Myers - 4, St. Lucie - 0.


Kevin McGowan (L, 2-3) deserved a better fate, allowing only 1 on 3 hits in 6.2 innings.

Jeff Mcneil went 2-3 and Gavin Cecchini was 2-4 in the loss.

 

Savannah was postponed - rain.


 

 

Brooklyn - 4, Mahoning Valley - 2.


Corey Oswald (W, 5-1) lowered his ERA to 2.54, allowing only 1 earned run.

Shane Bay got his 11th save, pitchinf a perfect 9th.

Jeff Diehl went 2-4 with a couple of RBI.

 

Kingsport - 16, Bristol - 10.


The K-Mets had 18 hits in this slugfest, taking an early lead and never relinquishing it, enabling starter, Andrew Massie (W, 1-4) despite giving up 5 runs (4 earned) in his 5.0 innings.

Ramon Estevez earned his 3rd save even though he gave up 3 runs (only 1 earned) in his 1.1 innings.

Luis Guillermo (5-6) had a huge night with 3 doubles.

Eudor Garcia (3-4) missed a cycle by a double. He had 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.

 

GCL Cardinals - 3, GCL Mets - 2.

Starter, Adrien Almeida, was outstanding, allowing only 1 hit and no runs, with 2 BBs in 5.0 innings.

Waldo Rodriguez (L, 2-3) stumbled in the 9th, allowing 1 run on a hit and 2 walks.

Milton Ramos was 2-3 with a 3B, while Enmanuable Zabala, quietly went 2-4.

 

 

DSL Mets1 - 6, DSL Rockies - 3.


Merandy Gonzales (W, 2-2) got the win, while Harol Gonzalez earned a 4 inning save, striking out 7.

Rafael Guzman went 2-2.

 

DSL Mets2 - 12, DSL Angels - 2.


The Angels used 6 pitchers to only 3 for the Mets!

Carlos Hernandez (W, 3-5) was outstanding, 1 run, 2 hits, on 1 BB.

Luis Lebron was 3-4 with one BB.

I hope that the DFA for C Young is a release from the organization altogether. I don't want him in AAA...let Puello play every day. Congrats to Matt den Dekker who in his last 42 games was an unreal .420/.500/.700. May he play almost every day with the Mets to see how much of that he can continue to bring at the major league level.

It is good to see Cecchini really hitting well of late. And curious how long the red-hot Herrera will be sidelined.
