Now Here's the Scoop:

Las Vegas played 2.  In game 1, Matt Bowman squandered a 3-0 lead, allowing 4 runs in 4 innings. Hitters produced 3 hits, including 3 apiece by Herrera and Boyd, 2 by Monell (.340) and 1 by Nimmo.

In game 2, Verrett was great (5 innings, 1 run, 7 Ks).
Dario Alvarez perfect inning, 2 more Ks. His overpowering streak continues.
Vic Black walked 2 In a hitless inning, no Ks.
Wilfredo Tovar (.285) 3-3,  plus his THIRTIETH STEAL in just 370 plate appearances. Only 38 Ks.
Reynolds 2 hits, Herrera (.342) triple, Nimmo 1-3 (.324).

Binghamton's Matt Koch tossed a typical line for one of his starts...no walks, 6 hits, 4 runs, 5 IP.  Lost.

MORRIS was great (2 scoreless, 3 Ks); Walters K'd 2 in 1 IP.

Like a broken record, 2 hits apiece from Cecchini (.313) and T J Rivera (.327), But Binghamton's 10 hits were singles, netting just 2 runs.

St Lucie's Mickey Jannis gave up 6 runs in 5 IP, but Mike Hepple (win) and Kelly Secrest (save) threw a great final 4 innings.

Hitting from the usual culprits - 2 hits from Smith (.307) (including a game tying RBI, driving in Michael Cuddyer (0-4, BB). Two hits from Oberste (.293).

Phil Evans pinch ran for Urena in the 1st (oh, boy), and contributed 2 hits & 2 RBIs.  Yeixon Ruiz on base 3 times.

Savannah twin bill sweep in convincing fashion.

Game 1: Big Bad Martires Arias went 5 and allowed 1 run (2.67). Baldonado threw the final 2 scoreless (1.63). 7 hits by 7 hitters.

Game 2: hooray for Chris Flexen (6 IP, 6 H, 2BB, 5 K.). Cameron Griffin a scoreless 7th  (1.78).  Jean Rodriguez had 2 hits and 3 ribbies, and the Gnats swiped 5 bags.  They outscored their DH opponents by 10 runs.

Brooklyn slipped under .500 due to highly anemic hitting (.217 after 47 games). Canelon allowed 3 runs in 6 solid innings, and Corey Taylor allowed 3 unearned runs.

Kingsport rallied from way behind to win 9-8. The usual guys (Kaczmarski 3 hits, Mazelka 3 hits, Carpio 2 hits) carried the load. The 3 are hitting between .326 and .335.

GCL Mets won an old fashioned 1-0 pitch fest. Huertas rebounded from a terrible start to go 5 innings, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 8 K).

GOAT: Matt Bowman, Cyclones patty cake hitters

Wilfredo Tovar 30 steals, great conact maker as a hitter, and back up to .285 in Sept. My guess is he can sac bunt too. In my book he is useful...I'd bring him up Sept 1.

Thomas,

Are you sure you wouldn't prefer Muno?

And how unprecedented would it be for the Mets to hire, as a separate entity from the hitting coach, a bunting coach? They're clearly two different skills.
