GCL Mets  - R&R SUNDAY

Now Here's the Scoop:

Las Vegas sent 6-1, 4.85 Dillon Gee in what could be a very important start for both him and the mother ship. But Gee got hammered...10 hits, 7 runs in 4.1 IP against Salt Lake.  Gee decided that he is giving up salt...and lakes.

I guess he trails Logan Verrett in term of next call up.

Darrell Ceciliani hit his 6th and also doubled. Recker (.253) was 1-1 (HR).  Monell had a hit and 2 BBs (.340). Zach Thornton struck out the side in the 8th.

Binghamton's Tyler Pill hoped to follow up his strong first AA start with a second and put his AAA nightmare further behind him. 5 innings of 2 run ball netted him the win. Cecchini got his daily 2 hits (.314).  Paul Sewald allowed a hit and walk in the 9th but nailed down his 18th save.

St Lucie sent Scarlyn Reyes to the mound and he then 6 innings without allowing an earned run for his 11th win and first with St Lucie.

The Mets got 2 hits from Dom Smith (.309), Yeixon Ruiz (.258), and Phil Evans (.251). All 3 started slow this year and each has come a mighty long way. Smith picked up an RBI, his 69th, and 66th in his last 81 games, during which he's hit .331.   Keubler notched his first save.

Savannah sent 6' 8" Josh Prevost to the hill. In 3 post-injury games, he had thrown 7 scoreless innings and K'd 7. He tossed 5.1 solid innings (1 earned run), followed by 3.2 scoreless innings from Mateo, Montgomery and Ben Griset. Michael Katz and Eudor Garcia had 2 hits and an RBI each.

Brooklyn did not hit again - but won 2-1 in 11 innings due to great relief pitching (6.2 scoreless).  Among the highlights were Johnny Magliozzi striking out 5 in 2 innings, and P J Conlon and Alex Palsha (11th save) still being at 0.00 after 48 Cyclone games. Vince Siena singled in the go-ahead run in the 11th.

Kingsport sent 3-0 Tom McIlraith to the mound and. Gave the K Mets a fine effort, 6.1 innings of 1 run ball.  The pen faltered, and in the 10th, the Mets fell behind but tied it in the bottom half.

In the 12th, Milton Ramos (.271, 3 hits) singled in the game winner. Mazelka (.344) & Luis Ortega (.303) also had 3 hits.

GCL Mets had the day off. Enjoy, fellas.
