Jupiter 4 - St. Lucie 1

The Jupiter Hammerheads scored all of their runs on two-out hits in a 4-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Thursday at Roger Dean Stadium.

The two teams split the four-game series.

The Hammerheads plated three runs in the first inning against Ricky Knapp. Taylor Ard got the scoring started with a RBI single. Then third baseman Jhoan Urena made a wide throw to second base that would have ended the inning on a force out. Instead the frame continued and Brian Schales laced a two-run double to right field just out of the reach of Wuilmer Becerra.

The Mets got on the board in the sixth when Champ Stuart tripled and scored on Amed Rosario’s ground out.

The Hammerheads got the run right back in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single from Dexter Kjerstad that chased Knapp from the game and put Jupiter up 4-1.

The Mets loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth but Kyle Fischer ended the threat by striking out Becerra.

Jupiter starter Michael Mader limited the Mets to four hits and one run in 5.2 innings to earn the win. Fischer notched his third save.

Knapp took the tough loss. He allowed four runs (two earned) in 5.2 innings.

Kevin Taylor extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the second. His seven-game multi-hit streak came to an end. He was robbed of a hit on a diving catch by Kjerstad in left field and he walked twice.
