St, Lucie 8 -. Myers 3

The St. Lucie Mets got back on track with a convincing 8-3 win over the Fort Myers Miracle on Thursday at Hammond Stadium.

The Mets entered the game having lost two straight and five out of six, but looked refreshed after Wednesday’s rainout in Bradenton. The Mets scored in five of the first six innings and took advantage of four errors by the Miracle.

John Mora went 2 for 3 with a double, two walks, two runs scored and two RBI. Wuilmer Becerra extending his hitting streak to 10 games by going 2 for 4. He is now batting .405, which is the best mark in the Florida State League.

The Mets wasted no time getting on the board. Champ Start doubled to start the game and went to third on a sac bunt. He scored easily when catcher Alex Swim tried to throw a ball back to pitcher Keaton Steele but launched it into center field.

Stuart made it 2-0 in the second with a RBI ground out. Two sac flies by Tomas Nido and Luis Guillorme and a two-out RBI single by Amed Rosario in the third put the Mets up 5-1.

Mora doubled in two runs in the fifth to make it 7-1. The Mets scored their last run in the sixth on a RBI single by Kevin Taylor.

Mets starter Corey Oswalt scattered eight hits and allowed three runs in 5.2 innings to earn his second win.

Tim Peterson pitched 1.1 perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts. Corey Taylor tossed two scoreless innings to finish the game.

Taylor and Michael Katz joined Mora and Becerra in the two-hit club.

The Mets drew nine walks from four Miracle pitchers.
