Tom Brennan - OLD MAN HITTING TRACKER VOL. 2

I wrote the other day that baseball is a young man's game.

And that our 2 active old guys, Curtis Granderson and Jose Reyes, have showed the clock may be running out on them.

I noted their combined 2017 numbers thru 15 games were:

13 for 104 (.125), 7 runs, 4 RBIs, .200 OBP, 30 Ks, 0 steals.

I CONCLUDED THE #'S SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.

True to form, in game 16 on Thursday night, April 20, the Mets stuck with their two elder gents, figuring every game should be Old Timers Day, I suppose.

So how did they do, in yet another close, disappointing loss?

Pretty poorly, thanks for asking: they were 1 for 9, with a run.  Grandy is now hitting .143, Reyes .105, which leaves them at # 182 and # 188 out of 191 qualified major league hitters.

Combined YTD?

14 for 113 (.124), 8 runs, 4 RBIs, .193 OBP, 30 K, 1 steal.

Don't get me wrong...I like both of these guys.  It's just that management needs to consider the utter ineptness of these 2 currently, & that it's hard winning games playing 7 against 9.

So until this changes, I may run this update daily.  Too old to rock and roll, until proven otherwise.

Why would the Mets change anything? Is not like they are not winning games...oh wait, never mind.

Why would they turn to the young guys when the GM and Manager are in there 60's themselves?? Young game with young pitchers throwing mid to high 90's! How many 100 MPH pitchers were there when Reyes and Granderson enetered the league compared to Now?
