New Met - RHP Daniel Bard

The Mets signed RHP Daniel Bard to a minor league contract.

Bard is an ex-1st round pick in 2006 out of the U. Of North Carolina. The 6-4 righty was almost immediately converted to the pen and had three successful seasons in the Boston pen from 2009-2011. The Red Sox then tried to return him to be a starter in 2012 and all hell broke out.

He found himself, first, back in the Red Sox pen and then second, unable to get anyone out. He was eventually waived and picked up by the Cubs, a team he eventually never pitched for.

Eventually, in 2014, he was correctly diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and started a slow return to baseball...

2015: out of baseball

2016: 8-appearances, A+ - Palm Beach (St. L):  1-2, 24.00

2017:  10-appearances, AA - Springfield (St. L): 0-1, 10.38

There was no announcement which Mets team he would be assigned to.
