Mets Draft - Round 22 - RHP Joshua Payne

RHP Joshua Payne (pictured at left) is a month younger than 21st rounder Aaron Ford and will turn 23 just after the 2017 season ends.

He is 6'6", 260, so he is not lacking in the size dept.

This was published in the Standard-Examiner:

West Haven native Josh Payne, a product of Fremont High School, was taken in the 22nd round (667th overall) by the New York Mets.

The 6-foot-6, right-handed pitcher helped lead one of Division II’s best pitching staffs as a senior at West Texas A&M U.

Payne was 10-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 86 innings and 14 starts this year for WTAMU. He struck out 101 batters to only 19 walks and opponents hit .245 against him.

Sounds good for this college senior.  Time'll tell, Mr. Payne.

He may already be as good as the 2017 version of Matt Harvey - just sayin'.
