Mets Draft – 23rd Round – LHP Jose Sierra
Jose Sierra is a 21 year old 6’3”,
190 LHP from Monroe College in New Rochelle.
From the school’s website below, we see what appears to be a power arm, and wish him well as he embarks on his pro career:
It has been a whirlwind couple of days
for the Monroe College Baseball team. On Wednesday, the spotlight shifted to
sophomore reliever Jose Sierra, who was selected by the New York Mets
in the 23rd round of the Major League Baseball Draft. He was the 697th
overall selection.
Sierra, a two-year player for the Mustangs, spent time with both the varsity and junior varsity programs this past year. A flame-throwing southpaw, Sierra impressed scouts at his pro day by reaching 96 MPH on the radar gun. Sierra led the varsity team in strikeouts per nine innings with a whopping 19.64. He also recorded a save on the year. The pitcher was second on the JV team in appearances, fanning 15 batters in just 6.1 innings of work.
Head coach Lou Melendez said, "Jose has worked really hard, and it has paid off. We are really proud of him." He continued, "I am really happy for him, and I know that if he continues to work hard, he will be successful."

Maybe they meant JC?
No because they typed out junior varsity as well. That's so odd
