PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (May 2, 2018) – The Charlotte Stone Crabs pounded their way to a 13-3 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday at Charlotte Sports Park.

The Stone Crabs set the tone early with a three-run first inning. They were helped out by an error in the frame and two walks by starting pitcher Gabriel Llanes.

Charlotte went up 4-0 in the second when Miles Mastrobuoni tripled and came in to score on a RBI ground out from Lucius Fox.

After the Mets got a run back in the third to make it 4-1, the Stone Crabs broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning. The first four batters of the frame singled. After a RBI grounder, Robbie Tenerowicz and Nate Lowe hit two more RBI singles to make it 8-1. Jesus Sanchez capped the scoring in the fourth with a two-run single to make it 10-1.

Brandon Brusher crushed his first FSL home run in the top of the fifth, a two-run shot, to make it 10-3.

The Stone Crabs responded in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run double from Lowe to go up 13-3.

Mets starter Gabriel Llanes allowed 10 runs, eight earned, in 3.1 innings.

Charlotte starter Mikey York got the win. He gave up two earned runs over six innings.

A couple bright spots for the Mets included reliever Adam Atkins tossing two scoreless innings and top prospect Andres Gimenez extending his hitting streak to five games.

The Stone Crabs topped out at 15 hits. Every Crab in the lineup had a hit and the top four in the lineup scored multiple runs. Lowe went 3 for 4 with four RBI and two runs scored.

The Mets (11-14) and Stone Crabs (12-14) conclude their series at Charlotte Sports Park with the rubber match on Thursday. First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
