Tom Brennan - ADRIAN GONZALEZ SO FAR IS BETTER THAN...
We were recently speculating how long the aging Adrian Gonzalez would last this season.
How about asking instead who he's done better than so far?
After all, in just 21 starts (26 games) and just 82 at bats, he is hitting over .250 with 5 homers and 19 RBIs.
OK, so let's answer that question:
He's done better than:
Michael Conforto
Jay Bruce
Travis d'Arnaud
Kevin Plawecki
Amed Rosario
Jose Reyes
Matt Harvey
Zach Wheeler
Steve Matz
Jason Vargas
Hansel Robles
Paul Sewald
Jose Lobaton
Tomas Nido
Dominic Smith
AJ Ramos
Jerry Blevins
Lucas Duda
Neil Walker
He's done as well or better than:
Todd Frazier
Brandon Nimmo
Seth Lugo
Jeurys Familia
Looking at it that way, I know my answer now:
Adrian Gonzalez can stay for a LONG TIME.

Rob, nice. It shows that patience is sometimes a virtue, as in Gonzalez's case.
I will admit that I was wrong about AG (so far).....the Mets have much bigger problems then first base.
@Mike -- I CATCH your drift.
Indeed!
Sorry, not happening. He’s a stiff despite his three good games so far. Blind squirrels find acorns too.
