21. Dylan Cupp, SS, Cedartown HS (GA) – A smart ballplayer, instincts and fluid actions make him one of the better up the middle gloves in this prep class, although the arm is fringy so there may be a future move to second. He has a quick bat and his hips fire in sync with the hands allowing him to drive the ball better than most prep bats, although the wide base does leave some question as to how much that power can improve.

He does have a mild leg kick but he times it well and has quick wrists making the hit tool the one that carries the most projection at the plate. The upside of Cupp is dependent on the future power potential and arm strength, some clubs might like it, others might not, but it only takes one to fall in love to rocket up a draft board.

32. New York Mets: Dylan Cupp, SS, Cedartown HS (GA)

The Mets first selection will be pushed back 10 spots due to being over the competitive balance tax but they’ll receive multiple fourth-rounders for losing QO free agents. There is lots of projection remaining with Cupp’s game but he’s one of the best prep hitters in the class. He has been a high level circuit performer.

Utility: Dylan Cupp, Cedartown HS (Cedartown, Ga.)

Cupp makes everything look buttery smooth in the infield, routinely making the charge play at short look like he’s done it for years in his sleep. It’s excellent body control with a skill set and baseball acumen that could see him play any skill position on the dirt. Cupp also doesn’t mess up the routine plays and is as automatic as they come at shortstop.

9. Dylan Cupp, SS, Cedartown HS (Ga.)

Another Team USA participant, Cupp is the best bet at the top of the 2023 class to stick at shortstop long-term, with excellent range, good hands and more than enough arm to stick at the premium spot. A solid runner, he has outstanding contact skills with the chance to grow into more pop.

13. Marlins: Dylan Cupp, SS  Cedartown HS (Cedartown Ga.)

Cupp has all the tools necessary to stick at shortstop for a long time, with excellent range, good hands and plenty of arm. The right-handed hitter runs well and has shown excellent bat-to-ball skills.

Perfect Game -

Dylan Cupp is a 2023 SS/2B/3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Cedartown, GA who attends Cedartown. Long and slender well proportioned build. 7.01 runner in the sixty.

Very advanced defensive actions at shortstop, takes very good routes through balls and is always on balance, has fast hands that are sure and easy, fundamentals stand out as much as the tools, doesn't have big raw arm strength but makes accurate throws with a quick release.

Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with quick hips to drive his swing, can get out front early at times, best when he stays back. Very good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi State.
