10. Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton HS (AZ) – Defensively, Cholowsky has soft hands and is really quick transitioning glove to throw where he is very accurate from all different arm angles. The arm strength is fringy as to whether or not it is enough to stick at short, as I think a future move to 2B may be needed, but he would be a plus defender there. At the plate he chases balls too often, but he can find the barrel with plenty of frequency when the ball is in the zone and he handles both velo and offspeed well. The ball does jump and the power is currently average, but there is still plenty of projection in the body and the sync between his hips firing and his hands suggest above average future power if not plus.

25. San Diego Padres: Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton HS (AZ)
AJ Preller loves to take upside in the draft but he’ll be down a couple of picks. This is an aggressive prep hitter who needs add strength but he’s a good athlete.
12-8-22 - Tyler Henninger @THenni24
Roch Cholowsky is one of the best defensive SS in this year’s draft, if not the best. Displays fluid actions w/ soft, confident hands and advanced athleticism on the dirt. A strong arm plays from left side. Will draw considerable interest in the spring https://t.co/LnxKK6PeGi

25. San Diego Padres
Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton
Cholowsky might have the best glove of all of the high school shortstops in this class and the bloodlines teams are drawn to of late. The bat may only be average, but Cholowsky has the chance to become a pure hitter with loud athletic tools all over the diamond.

Middle Infield: Roch Cholowsky, Hamilton HS (Chandler, Ariz.)
The recipient of the Rawlings Defensive Player of the Year at the PG All-American Classic, Cholowsky is a shoo-in on this team as one of the more sure-handed defenders on the dirt. It’s smooth actions with an excellent internal clock and a solid arm to stick at short. Cholowsky made shortstop look easy at points during this summer and the glove is very smooth.

36 SS
Roch Cholowsky
Hamilton
In a very deep prep shortstop class, Cholowsky stands out as having some of the highest projectability out of anyone in the class with supremely impressive talent on the defensive end. Long, athletic frame with tons of room for growth throughout with high level actions in the dirt. Great range moving laterally and has the arm strength to make every throw. Hands stand out with both the glove and with the bat. Extremely hitterish in the box with advanced barrel control and ability to use the entire field. High level profile that should only continue to get better. Scouts only question is future impact at the plate, but Cholowsky has a lot of growing ahead of him. Cholowsky is expected to be a tricky sign as he has the opportunity to play both football AND baseball at Notre Dame should he so choose.

13. Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton HS (Ariz.)
The son of Reds scout Dan Cholowsky, Roch is a multi-sport athlete who could have the chance to play football at UCLA should he want to go that route. He wasn’t seen much over the summer because he was preparing for football season, but he’s super athletic, looks the part at shortstop and can swing the bat.

29. Seattle Mariners
Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton
There’s a lot of presumptions taking place with this pick. First, the Dodgers and Mets are both expected to see their first rounders fall ten spots due to luxury tax overages. Second, this is assuming Julio Rodriguez wins Rookie of the Year, thus awarding the Mariners a second first-round pick. Of note, the Orioles would not be eligible for this compensation if Adley Rutschman wins the award, so we’ll roll with it for Seattle to have a little fun. Seattle has had a lot of fun with prep shortstops in recent years. Cholowsky might have the best glove of the bunch and the bloodlines teams are drawn to of late. The bat may only be average, but Roch will definitely stay up the middle of the field.

21. Roch Cholowsky, SS, Hamilton HS
Cholowsky has a great arm in the field and even with his length, scouts believe that he has an "advanced barrel" where he can hit anywhere on the field. He would be a
great find for the Rays.

He could probably move to second. He’d be a great get.
He could still be on the board at 1.32
