#23 Ethan Conrad
OF Wake Forest
20/years old
6' 3" 200
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 50 |
Field: 55 | Overall: 50
Seaver King landed in the first round after transferring from
a small school to Wake Forest a year ago, and Conrad could be on the same path.
He slashed .389/.467/.704 with nine homers and a NCAA Division I-leading 13
triples (including a record four in one game) at Marist last spring, then
finished second in the Cape Cod League in batting (.385) and OPS (.919).
Conrad makes repeated contact with a simple left-handed swing
and gap-to-gap approach. He's an aggressive hitter who chases all types of
pitches out of the zone, yet his uncanny hand-eye coordination helps him
compensate. A physical 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, he has the strength and solid
bat speed to provide at least average power, though there are some concerns
that he doesn't drive balls in the air to his pull side very often.
Conrad is a threat to steal and will flash some plus run
times, but his speed plays more as solid. Though he spent most of his sophomore
season at first base, he covers plenty of ground on the outfield corners and is
capable in center field. He has average arm strength and probably fits best in
right field.

hit tool of 55 with power at 50. The Detroit Tigers have boasted a strong
pipeline recently, and Conrad could give that a boost.

MLB 2025 Mock Draft 2.0: Predictions for Every 1st-Round Pick
23. Kansas City Royals: 1B/OF Ethan Conrad, Wake Forest
If Oregon State infielder Aiva Arquette is the most notable
transfer among position players heading into the 2025 season, Conrad is a close
second after hitting .389/.467/.704 with 40 extra-base hits in 55 games at
Marist College in 2024. He posted a .385/.433/.486 line over 30 games in the
Cape Cod League to showcase his skills against high-level competition, and now
he will look to follow in the footsteps of Seaver King who went D-II to
first-round by way of Wake Forest a year ago.

11. Ethan Conrad – OF
HT/WT: 6’4/215 | Bat/Throw: L/L | School: Wake Forest | Age:
21
After two spectacular years at Marist, Conrad will make the
jump to the ACC and join Wake Forest, where he’ll fit in well with Tom Walter’s
system.
After slashing .389/.467/.704 this past spring with a
nation-leading thirteen triples, Conrad didn’t skip a beat on the Cape, hitting
.385 with two home runs and nineteen stolen bases.
Conrad’s left-handed swing is a thing of beauty, flashing
very quick hands and bat speed with some loft. His swing plane is flatter right
now and made more for line drives, but Conrad has displayed solid pull side
power when he lofts one. He’ll need to lift the ball more in the spring.
While Conrad’s approach can be aggressive, he covers the zone
exceptionally well, feasting on fastballs regularly and handling spin well.
It’s an advanced offensive profile.
Conrad’s speed is plus and will utilize it to be a menace on
the base paths, as evidenced by his gaudy stolen base numbers. It’s a
right-field profile with a solid arm and route-running. He’ll have a big test
in the ACC next spring, but he
seems ready for the challenge.

23. Ethan Conrad, OF,
Wake Forest
A transfer from Marist, has always hit, but needs to show the
power in the bat, would should be easy in the friendly confines of Wake Forest,
to stick in the first round. Produced well in the Cape, finishing second in
hitting. However, profiles more as a corner outfielder despite leading the
nation in triples in 2024.

14. Ethan Conrad, OF/1B, Wake Forest
Seaver King climbed into 2024's first round after
transferring to Wake Forest and Conrad could do the same as a right fielder
with the chance for solid tools across the board. He slashed .389/.467/.704
with nine homers and a D-I leading 13 triples (including a record four in one
game) at Marist during the spring, then finished second on the Cape in batting
(.385) and OPS (.919).

ETHAN CONRAD, OF - wake forest
Prospects Live Ranking - #11
After a phenomenal summer in the Cape, Ethan Conrad will look
to carry that momentum with his new program at Wake Forest. During his two seasons at Marist College,
Conrad ended with a .359/.425/.587 slash line while gathering 54 extra base
hits and 239 total bases. Obviously
impressive, even more so considering he did that before turning 20 years of
age. In the box, it’s a quiet operation
with an advanced feel of the strike zone, evidenced by his low 8% whiff rate.
This past season with Marist, Ethan did incredibly well against fastballs,
hitting .405 against them and recording 8 of his 9 triples off that pitch. As previously mentioned, Conrad dominated in
the Cape League, earning All-Star honors with Bourne and finishing with a .385
batting average and 19 stolen bases.
Defensively, Conrad still has room to grow, as he currently possesses an
average arm and showcases plus range thanks to his speed. That said, he is set to start in right field
for Wake this Spring with the ability to transition to center if the arm
improves. It’s a fun profile with day
one potential; with improved defensive skills, it could easily translate into a
lottery pick.

For college baseball fans and prospect followers alike, it’s
time to get to know Wake Forest outfielder Ethan Conrad. After two impressive
seasons at Marist – he collectively slashed .359/.425/.587 during his freshman
and sophomore years with the Red Foxes – Conrad has opted to transfer to Wake
Forest. He made that decision at the beginning of the summer, even before the
start of the Cape Cod Baseball League season, where Conrad continued to play at
a high level.
Playing for the Bourne Braves, Conrad slashed .385/.433/.486,
finishing among the Cape league leaders in batting, runs, hits, stolen bases
and OPS. He even earned All-Star Game MVP honors for the West team with a
1-for-2 performance that included an RBI double, a stolen base and two runs
scored.
It marks the second year in a row Wake Forest has plucked a
talented player away from a small school, doing so with infielder Seaver King a
year ago, who also enjoyed a strong performance on the Cape prior to arriving
in Winston-Salem. And following in King’s footsteps, for his meteoric rise
Conrad has been named D1 Baseball’s 2024 Summer Breakout Prospect.
