Buffalo Game Notes




TODAY’S GAME:


Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in a doubleheader to begin a five-game set in four days from Coca-Cola Field (Game 1: 5:35p.m.). Buffalo is coming off a 3-1 series win over Columbus after that included an impressive offensive explosion in last night’s 12-8 win. Tonight’s games also begin a nine-game homestand as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs come to town August 14-17.


vs. THE RED WINGS:


The Bisons are 2-4 against Rochester thus far in 2009. The Herd lost the first game in Rochester on April 29th, 1-0. They also lost the second game of the season series in Buffalo on July 3rd, 6-2. The two teams proceeded to split a four-game set in Rochester, July 4-6. Today’s doubleheader will make up the July 2nd rainout here at Coca-Cola Field.


REY TO BE:


INF Argenis Reyes had at least one hit in every game during the team’s eight-game roadtrip that concluded last night. Since August 1, he has averaged .378 (14-37) with two doubles, a triple, five RBI and three runs scored in the stretch. The hit streak has raised Reyes’ season average 18 points from .255 to .273. His 68 hits on the year are the third highest on the team.


WHAM BAM THANK YOU LAMB:


INF Mike Lamb had another impressive day at the plate last night going 2-5 with two runs-scored, a double, and an RBI. The veteran has hit in nine of his last 11 games, with six multi-hit performances during this stretch. Since July 29, the veteran has averaged .386 (17-44). That includes some great power numbers: six doubles, a home run and nine RBI. Since the start of July, Lamb has averaged .304 (38-125) with 11 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 16RBI in 35 games.


ROLLING THROUGH RIVALS: Last night’s game was the Bisons last against a non-divisional opponent in 2009. The Herd’s final 33 games will be against IL North foes. The Bisons finished 13-19 against the IL West division and 14-17 against the IL South. The Bisons are currently 11-6 in their last 17 games against teams in the IL North division.
