Mets Acquire OF Jason Dubois,
Assign to Bisons
2006 Bisons Co-MVP, IL All-Star Returns to Buffalo
The New York Mets today announced that they have acquired OF Jason Dubois in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. The Bisons 2006 Co-MVP has been assigned to the team and is in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Monday’s doubleheader against the Rochester Red Wings (5:35 p.m.).
To make roster room, C Rafael Arroyo has been transferred to Binghamton (AA).
Dubois, 30, has spent the entire 2009 season with the Iowa Cubs (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. There, the slugger has hit .302 (83-275) with 20 doubles, 11 home runs and 50RBI in 91 games. Dubois was with the Bisons in 2005 and 2006. In 2006, he hit .275 with 22 home runs and 87RBI in 121 games with the Herd. He was named the Bisons Co-Most Valuable Player with OF Ben Francisco as well as a mid-season and post-season International League All-Star. Dubois led that Buffalo club in home runs (T6th in IL), RBI (4th in IL) and slugging percentage (.492 -6th in IL) and finished second on the Bisons in games, runs (65), hits (125), doubles (31 -10th in IL) and extra-base hits (53).
Originally a 14th round draft pick of the Cubs in 2000, Dubois joined the Bisons in 2005 when the Cleveland Indians traded OF Jody Gerut to Chicago. Dubois played just 13 games that season, hitting .283 (15-53) with 4 home runs and 10RBI. Dubois did hit a three-run home run in his first Bisons at-bat on August 7, 2005 in Pawtucket. That feat was not repeated until INF Javier Valentin homered for the Bisons in the first game of a doubleheader against Gwinnett on May 15 this season.
