TODAY’S GAME: This morning, the Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the third game of a four-game series from Louisville Slugger Field (11:05 a.m.). The Herd has lost the first two games of the series to the Bats, 7-6 and 11-0. The Bisons are now just 1-5 on their eight-game roadtrip that concludes tomorrow night against Louisville. After this four-game set, the Bisons will return to Buffalo for an eight-game homestand. The Herd is 7-11 on the road this season while Louisville is 7-9 at home.
vs. THE BATS: The Bisons and Bats have split the first six games of their season series. The Herd won three of four back in Buffalo from May 1-4, while Louisville has collected victories over the Bisons the last two nights. The last time Buffalo won the season-series over the Bats was in 2007 (5-3).
SOLID DEBUT: C JEAN LUC BLAQUIERE collected a pair of doubles in his Bisons’ debut last night. In fact, Tuesday’s game was the 24-year old’s first appearance above the Single-A level. Promoted prior to the game yesterday, Blaquiere hit .203 (15-74) with one home run and 11RBI in 21 games with St. Lucie (A) to begin the 2010 season.
CLUTCH!: INF MIKE HESSMAN leads the International League with 35RBI, three more than Columbus OF SHELLEY DUNCAN. The Bisons’ slugger is averaging .410 (16-39) with a .949 slugging percentage with runners in scoring position. Eleven of his 22 extra-base hits this season have come with runners in scoring position (six doubles, five home runs). Hessman has hit in all six games during this current roadtrip with a .364 batting average (8-22).
WITH PRIDE: No other batter in the International League has more at-bats than Bisons’ OF JASON PRIDIE (134). He’s made good use of them, hitting in 10 of his last 11 games and 17 of his last 19 contests. Pridie leads the Bisons with 39 hits. He’s become especially good at getting the Herd attack going. Pridie has a .393 (11-28) average when leading off the first inning.
HOT TEJADA: INF RUBEN TEJADA may have gone 0-4 last night, but is still hitting .450 (9-20) during the club’s six-game roadtrip. Since April 19, Tejada has averaged .370 (27-73) with 11 runs scored in 21 games.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (18-15) scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the Nationals, 8-6, last night at Citi Field. OF JASON BAY and INF DAVID WRIGHT each had three hits while former Bisons OF CHRIS CARTER had a pinch-hit RBI-double in his first game with the Mets this season. New York will look for the series win over Washington today at 1:10 p.m.
