The Bisons dropped the first of an eight-game road trip in Indianapolis, falling 9-2 to the Indians on Thursday night from Victory Field.
Following a 7-3 road trip, the Indians kept on rolling in front of the home crowd. They pounded out nine runs on 15 hits en route to the victory, breaking it open with a seven-run sixth inning.
The Indians took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Brandon Jones. But the Bisons came right back to tie the game in the fourth on Chris Carter's solo home run, his fifth long ball of the year. After the Indians took the lead in the fifth on an , the game unraveled for the Herd in the sixth. Indianapolis unloaded for seven runs on seven hits and sent 12 men to the plate. The big hit in the inning came on a three-run home run from Pedro Alvarez, the Pittsburgh Pirates (parent club of the Indians) top prospect.
Bisons starter Bobby Livingston went five innings, giving up just two runs on six hits.
BISONS NOTES: Chris Carter extended his hitting streak to seven games with his fourth inning homer...Bisons pitcher Bobby Livingston went 1-1 with a double in the game and reached base twice, also walking...With an RBI double in the ninth, Mike Hessman added to his IL leading RBI total (29), and is now tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (16).
