AAA – Buffalo:
Josh
Satin's second start of the season at 2b today.
Ben
Wagner pointed out a troubling stat yesterday about SP Jeurys
Familia. It seems that he has not reached the 5th inning in
six of his last 14 starts. We can spin this stat a hundred different ways , but
it’s going to come out smelling like bad cheese.
Familia now seems
destined to finish the season at AAA and will continue to try and find his lost
command; however, I believe we’re now seeing proof positive that he will not
become part of the parent team rotation in the future. He has two great pitches
and the quicker the organization puts him in the pen, the more he can solely
concentrate on commanding those two pitches.
AAA got a look today at
CF Matt den Dekker’s arm. He was accredited with
his first outfield assist in the third, throwing out Mike River who was trying
to core from third on a fly-out to Deck.
Jenrry Mejia pitched the 6th – the
first 13 pitches resulted in five strikes, a HBP, a walk, and a single… yanked
after 22 pitches. This is supposed to be the 2nd of four relief appearances he will have in
Buffalo. Final line: 1/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1
ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 1 HBP, 22 pitches, 10 strikes. Wally on Mejia: “Command was the issue. He
felt good and the velocity was 90-96 but the command was the issue today.”
Only good news was the
2.2-IP by RP Manny Acosta (0.00).
AA-Binghamton:
Reese Havens - .169/.297/.285
Piss pour fielding did
in SP Greg Peavey…. errors by Rylan Sandoval (2x), Travis
Ozga, and Juan Lagares did them in early.
This was about as bad
as a game can go. Altoona scored 15 times on 20 hits. Ex-Met Stefan Welsh (.300) went 3-5.

CF Travis Taijerson hit his 12th home run of
the season.
