LAST GAME: The B-Mets overcame a three-run deficit and defeated the Altoona Curve 4-3 last night at NYSEG Stadium in the opener of a three-game series. Rylan Sandoval led the charge with three hits, including a go-ahead RBI single in Binghamton’s decisive three-run sixth inning. The Curve took a 3-0 after tagging B-Mets starter Gonzalez Germen for eight hits and taking advantage of two B-Mets errors. Binghamton started the comeback in the fifth against starter Brandon Cumpton. Dustin Martin scorched a double to center and scored on a single from Sandoval. The B-Mets chased Cumpton from the game on four straight singles in the sixth, capped by Martin’s game-tying two-run hit. Sandoval greeted new reliever Kris Harvey with a go-ahead single to left. Ryan Fraser and Armando Rodriguez combined to close the door in the relief. The righties combined for seven strikeouts over the final three scoreless innings. Rodriguez earned the six-out save, the first of his pro career.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Darin Gorski (4-3, 3.97) takes the mound for the 12th time this season to make his eleventh start. The southpaw from Mount Joy, Pennsylvania is on a two-game winning streak and fresh off one of his finest performances as a B-Met. Gorski scattered seven hits over eight scoreless innings in a win over the Trenton Thunder on June 9. Gorski did not issue a single walk for the first time this season and struck out three. In two starts in June, Gorski has gone 2-0 and allowed just three earned runs (1.88 ERA). Selected in the seventh round of the 2009 draft, Gorski is in his first season with the B-Mets.

RHP Kyle McPherson (0-0, ---) takes the mound for the first time this season after sitting out the first two months with shoulder inflammation. McPherson split his season last year between Bradenton (High-A) and Altoona, combining for a 12-6 record and compiling a 2.96 ERA en route to earning the Pittsburgh Pirates 2011 Minor League Pitcher of the Year award. The righty was promoted to Altoona in early June 2011 after going 4-1 in the Florida State League. McPherson made 16 starts with the Curve last season, going 8-5 with a 3.02 ERA. Selected in the 14th round of the 2007 draft out of the University of Mobile, the 24-year-old faces the B-Mets for the first time.
