MLB - Mets:
Yusmeiro
Petit (3.25 ERA, 2.69 FIP) - He has not been in the majors since 2009, but
Yusmeiro Petit has seemingly changed his game way for the better. He dominated
the Venezuelan League this winter, and now he is leading the PCL in FIP — the
PCL, my friends! One has to think Petit is on the shortlist for an injury
callup if and when the Giants need some starting pitching or swing man relief.
If not, I feel Petit might reach the majors with another team. At age 27 — and
in a hitter’s league — he has to be raising some brows. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/minor-league-standouts-and-players-of-note/
AJ Burnett now 9-2 with Pirates after winning
eight straight start.
John Maine's game stats - 5.0 IP, 4H, 0R, 0ER, 1BB, 6K (82 pitches - 57
strikes)
AAA – Buffalo:
The Pacific Coast
League today announced its 2012 All-Star Team that will take on the International
League at the 25th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 11 at
Coca-Cola Field. Headlining the PCL squad is their top home run hitter, former
Bisons 1B MIKE HESSMAN. Hessman has slugged 23
home runs for the Oklahoma City RedHawks, the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston
Astros. Hessman played for the Bisons during the 2010 season and hit .274 with
20 doubles, 18 home runs and 58RBI with a .573 slugging percentage in only 64
games with the Herd.
TODAY’S GAME: Tonight,
the Buffalo Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the third game of a four-game
series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd snapped a season-long
seven-game losing streak with the 9-4 win yesterday. Buffalo will host the
Durham Bulls for a four-game set beginning on Saturday. The Bisons are 20-18 at Coca-Cola Field this
season. The Bisons are 1-1 against
Louisville this season. In 2011, the Herd went 4-4 against the Bats after
splitting each series in Buffalo and Louisville. Since their return to the
International League in 1998, the Bisons are 61-53 (.535) overall against the
Bats and are 35-23 (.603) at Coca-Cola Field. RHP COLLIN
McHUGH will make his Coca-Cola Field debut tonight. His first two
Triple-A starts came on the road last week. McHugh is 0-2 with an 8.10ERA and
11 strikeouts in 10.0 innings of work with the Bisons. In 12 starts with
Double-A Binghamton, he was 5-5 with a 2.41ERA and 65 strikeouts in 74.2
innings
16th save for
Fernando Cabrera…………………. (what?)
AA-Binghamton:
1st 7 AA games - Wilmer
Flores - .333/.387/.556
1B Eric Campbell, 3B Jefry Marte, and RHP Zack Wheeler were named Eastern
League all-stars. Sadly, Campbell (.324) remains blocked by AAA all-star Val Pascucchi (13-HR, 50-RBI, but only .247).
Pascucchi is a big deal for Bisons fans, who probably could play there
forever. Campbell is going to have to
sit tight until the Mets affiliate with another AAA team next season (of
cource, the minute I said that, the Bisons’ starting lineup comes out and Josh Satin is playing 1B and Pascucchi is in RF).
2B Reese Havens in last 10 games - .343. So, what if he
goes bananas, hits around 15 home runs this season and finishes at, oh, let’s
say .280 and 5-errors. Then what?
The B-Mets came out
swinging, scoring two runs in the first on a Jefry
Marte (3B - .273) single and a Wilmer Flores (DH
- .333) sac-fly. SP Darin Gorski had a miserable fourth inning (4-R, 3-ER,
1-E, 4-singles)…
C Juan Centeno had three hits tonight. He came in
hitting only .235 in the last ten games. All the catchers are starting to feel Cam Maron bitting up their ass.
A+ - St. Lucie: -
1B Joe Bonfe was activated from the DL and assigned to
St. Lucie. They now have three first basemen… Bonfe, Richard Lucas (.224),
and Alan Dykstra (.286)… more to come?
Lucy’s new non-prospect
lineup came out of the gate fast (4-0)… then shut the gates (4-11)… SP Chase Hutchingson took one in the groin (5.0-IP, 11-H,
9-R)… gave up 7-ER outing before this one… hmm... can you say… TJS?
This one couldn’t have
ended fast enough.
A – Savannah:
Jeez… 4 more errors… (I’m sorry… I have such a hard time
writing about this team because of the shit way their home office has treated
me over the past two years…) Savannah lost. (hope the bus gets a flat…)
A-Low – Brooklyn:
RHP Mathew Koch started his first professional game… this
one won’t go up on his mantle… 1.2-IP, 3-ER, 1-H, 1-K, 2-BB, 16.20… CF Brandon Nimmo - .167… (I’m just saying…)
Rookie – Kingsport:
Football star, CF Bradley Marquez (.235) tripled… who is John Galt?
No, that’s the book… who is John Gant? Well,
he’s the K-Port pitcher that had a no-hitter through five innings…
Nice rebound win by
K-Port… keep an eye on LF Eris Peguero (.425)…
SS Gavin Cecchini 2-hits and warming up (.286)…
DSL Mets:
1B Adrian Abreu (.367) – 4th and 5th HR
1B Adrian Abreu (.367) – 4th and 5th HR
