Buffalo 8, Norfolk 7

The Bisons coming into Tuesday night's game was hoping to split the series against Norfolk with a win. Fortunately, with the help of a couple errors and a wild pitch, they did just that.

The Herd highlighted the bottom of the seventh with a two-run job to take the lead over the Tides and win 8-7 in the final game of a four-game series between the two teams at Coca-Cola Field.

The Tides committed six errors on the game, three of them coming in the seventh.

"From what I can remember, Norfolk was errorless the whole month," Manager Wally Backman said. "It was certainly a good opportunity to take advantage of their mistakes and score some runs."
After Sean Kazmar flew out to left to lead-off for the Bisons, newly called-up player Matt Den Dekker doubled on a line drive to right. With the right fielder Jai Miller attempting to throw out Den Dekker, the throw goes offline, moving the speedy center fielder to third.

Den Dekker passed the baton to Corey Wimberly, who assisted Dekker by driving him in to tie the game up at 6.

"As soon as I hit that ball to right I took the chance to stretch into a double and get myself to third on the error," Matt Den Dekker said. "Whatever is possible to score runs I'm glad to help."

With Wimberly at first, Fred Lewis grounded into a force out, Wimberly thrown out at 2nd. Lewis reached to first after the Tides first baseman Jamie Hoffmann failed to make the catch, moving Lewis to second.

Josh Satin came up next.

Satin hit a routine fly ball to right but the right fielder Miller bobbled the catch, which would score Lewis on the error and moving Satin all the way to third. Bisons led 7-6.

With Val Pascucci batting, Tides pitcher Zach Philips committed a wild pitch all the way to the backstop to score Satin and make it 8-6 Bisons.

The Herd scored their other runs back in the second and third: Sean Kazmar hit a two-run double, and Satin with a two-run homer.
