DIGIPIXFriday night in DC….behind another terrific outing by Dillon Gee and a two run homer by Ike Davis, the Mets win their 2nd straight with a 3-2 win over the Nats.  Gee was in total command, his only mistakes were two solo homers.  In the bottom of the third Wilson Ramos connected off Gee for a solo shot to give Washington a 1-0 lead.  That didn’t last long. In the top of the 4th Ike Davis hit a 2 run homer (#9) to centerfield off Jordan Zimmerman to make it 2-1 Mets.  That’s the way it stayed until the top of the 8th when Andrew Brown’s infield single brought home Daniel Murphy with the Mets 3rd run. In the 8th Steve Lombardozzi hit a two out solo homer to make it 3-2, but that was as close as the Nats could get.  Scott Rice relieved Gee and retired Bryce Harper in a key spot to end the 8th. La Troy Hawkins pitched the 9th to earn his 6th save. Gee went 7 2/3 allowing 6 hits 2 runs walking 1 and striking out 3 . He earns his 10th win he’s now 10-9. Zimmerman takes the loss he falls to 15-8. The Mets managed 7 hits on the night Murphy and d’Arnaud led the way with 2 hits apiece. The Mets improve to 61-72 on the year overall and 33-34 on the road. Saturday night is game two of the series. Zach Wheeler (6-3  3.42) looks to earn the Mets 3rd straight win.  Dan  Haren (8-11  4.66)  goes for Washington. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
