August 26th - Phillies 2, Mets 1
Monday night at Citi Field, Cliff Lee out-dueled Zach Wheeler in a tight one as the Phillies beat the Mets 2-1. Wheeler was strong tossing 105 pitches lasting 6 2/3 innings. He allowed 5 hits 2 runs (both earned) he walked 1 and struck out 7. Both runs against Wheeler came in the 4th inning on a 2 run triple by rookie Cody Asche. In the bottom of the second the Mets had taken a 1 nothing lead against Lee on an rbi single by Andrew Brown. Lee was old his dominant self going 8 strong allowing just 5 hits 1 run he walked 1 and struck out 6. Lee gets the win improving to 11-6. Jonathon Paplebon pitched the 9th for his 22nd save. Wheeler is the hard luck loser falling to 6-3. Out of the bullpen, Pedro Feliciano, Scott Rice, Carlos Torres and Gonzalez Germen kept the Mets within one run. The Mets have now lost 5 straight and stand at 58-71 on the year, their home record falls to 26-37. Tuesday night is game two of the series.
