Draft 14 - An Early Look At: Mitch Hart, RHP, Granite Bay HS (CA)

draft - mitch hart

28th RHP  -  Mitch Hart

7-22-13 - Player:  Mitch Hart   Primary Position:  RHP Secondary Position(s):  3B/1B Height/Weight:  6’3/175 Bats/Throws:  R/R Home Town:  Granite Bay, CA  School:  Granite Bay  Class of:  2014  Committed To:  Southern California - Scouting Notes: 2013 Tournament of Stars notes from Don Olsen: - Mitch has a lean athletic frame with a great deal of projection in the Kurt Ainsworth mold.  Easy three piece action, good loose arm, timing and lower half drive are not inline and arm slot moved a great deal, a lot more velocity in the arm.  Fastball was 87-90 (91) mph and showed the ability to pound the zone with it, missed bats with a bit of cut fastball 87-88 mph.  Curve was more of slurve type, in 76-78 mph.  It had some action and can see offering down the line.  Change was more of a show me stage 80-82 mph.  He is tied to projection and refinements could see a solid three pitch mix. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/07/22/2014-mlb-draft-profile-mitch-hart/

7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 27. Mitch Hart, RHP, Granite Bay HS (CA) - 6'4/175, Draft Day Age: 17.80, USC commit - Quick Take: Hart is another solid projection play in this class, as one of the younger player in the class with good command and a long, lean frame that should add strength down the road. He'll sit 88-92 with occasional sinking life, two above average off-speed pitches in a 78-80 mph slider and 80-82 mph changeup and a curveball that's average and changes hitters' eye level. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html

8-10-13 - New Balance Area Code games - A’s right-hander, Mitch Hart (CA) is one of the tops arms in the tournament and showed good stuff in his outing. He has a long, projectable body with a loose arm action. His fastball sat 89-90 MPH early on but was down a bit later on and sat 86-88. The pitch had some run but he located it well. He also threw one of my favorite changeups from the week. The pitch sat 80-82 MPH and really dropped off the table with good deception. Hart also mixed in a curve that had tight, hard, sweeping break at 73-75 MPH. http://prospectinsider.com/view/2013-area-codes:-day-4-notes/
