Kingsport Mets Go Yard 3 Times - Defeat Pulaski 6-4; Take 2 of 3 From The Mariners
KINGSPORT, TENN
Kingsport won their 9th game of the young Appy season by hitting 3 more home runs and defeating the Pulaski Mariners 6-4.
Oswald "Ozzie" Caraballo, Pedro Perez, and Luis Ortega each hit a solo home run in this comeback win for the Mets. Kingsport (9-10) leads the league in home runs hit at 18. Kingsport has won 3 of its last 4 games.
Mets' batters also did great at the plate tonight - only striking out 3 times. Caraballo and Ortega led the team with 3 hits each. Canelon went 1/3, but had a decisive 2 run 2 out single.
It was another rough outing for starter Christian Montgomery. He gave up 4ER on 4 hits and 4 walks in 4 2-3 innings. Relievers Blackham, Estevez, and Tijerina held Pulaski scoreless over the final 4 1-3 innings combining for 7 strikeouts.
Kingsport moves into sole possession of 3rd place in the West Division, 3 games behind division leading Elizabethton. The Mets begin a 6 game road trip at the aforementioned Elizabethton Twins squad for an early season division standing implication set of 3 games. The Mets then head to Bristol to take on the Pirates, currently the worst team in the league.
WORTH NOTING: Rain delay of 1:05 pushed back the game start time until 8:05pm. Kingsport has had at least 10 hits in 8 of its 19 games so far. Kudos to Kingsport's relief pitchers tonight - safely got out of 2 separate bases loaded jams. Pulaski's pitching staff only issued 1 walk tonight.
