Saturday night at Citi Field, the Rangers got to Bartolo
Colon for 4 first inning runs, the Rangers go on to snap their 6 game road
losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Mets.
In the top of the 1st Alex Rios hit an RBI double scoring
Shin-Soo Choo with the 1st run, then with two runners on Robinson
Chirinos hit a 3 run homer (8) and the Rangers had a 4-0 lead. In the top of the 3rd Adrian
Beltre hit a solo homer (11), his second in two nights and Texas was off to a
5-0 lead. In the bottom of the 3rd the Mets scored two runs off
Colby Lewis with a RBI double by Curtis Granderson and a bases loaded single
by Bobby Abreu to make it 5-2. Travis d’Arnaud hit a solo homer in the 4th,
his 5th on the year to make it 5-3.
Colon recovered after the 1st and lasted 7 innings allowing 8
hits, 5 runs (all earned) he walked 2 and struck out 3. Lewis went 6 allowing 8
hits 3 runs (2 earned) striking out 7.
Lewis gets the win improving to 6-5, Colon takes the loss and his record
falls to 8-7. Joakim Soria pitched the 9th and notched his 16th
save. The Mets managed 9 hits on the night;
Granderson led the way with 2 hits. d’Arnaud has now hit in 9 of 10 games since
returning from Las Vegas. David Wright returned to the line up and went 1 for 4
with a double to center. The Mets are now 18-22 at home and 38-49 overall on
the year. Sunday the Mets look to take
the rubber game of the series. Zach Wheeler (3-8 4.25) goes for the Mets, Nick Tepesch
(3-3 3.65) goes for Texas.
