Tuesday night at Citi Field Jacob deGrom threw 7 scoreless
innings striking out 11 and the Mets got a season high 18 hits as they beat the
Braves 8-3. Curtis Granderson led off the
game with a homer for the 3rd time this year to make it 1-0 after
one, for Granderson hit was his team leading 14th homer. The Mets scored 3 more in the 2nd
and single runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th .
Every batter that got to the plate for the Mets got at least 1 hit. Lucas Duda led the way going 3 for 3 with an
RBI and 2 walks; Daniel Murphy went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI.
Granderson, David Wright, Juan Lagares, Travis
d’Arnaud and Ruben Tejada each all had 2 hits apiece, Wright, Lagares, pinch
hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Eric Young Jr. all added an RBI. deGrom was
brilliant allowing just allowing 7 hits and gets the win. He’s now 2-5. His ERA
drops to 3.38. The Mets jumped all over
Julio Terheran for 11 hits and 5 runs in 3 1/3 innings. He takes the loss
falling to 8-6. The Braves scored a run in the 8th off Buddy Carlyle and 2 in the ninth off Dana
Eveland. Jeurys Familia came in for Eveland and finished it off. The Mets have now won the first 2 games of
this set with Atlanta and 3 straight over all. The 18 hits they amassed Is the
most they have ever gotten in a game at Citi Field. With the win The Mets climb to 41-49 and
21-22 at Citi Field. Wednesday night is game three of the series. Dillon Gee
(3-1 2.73) comes off the disabled list
to go for the Mets. Ervin Santana (7-5
3.93) goes for the Braves.
