Tuesday night in Flushing, Doug Fister blanked the Mets for 7
innings while Washington hit 4 homers on the night, the Nats beat the Mets
7-1. Rafael Montero started in place of
the injured Jacob deGrom and he got hit hard giving up 3 long balls. A two run shot by Bryce Harper (5) in the 2nd
and a solo shot by Anthony Rendon (16) and a 2 run shot by Ian Desmond (20) in
the 5th. Carlos Torres
replaced Montero and gave up a 2 run shot to Michael Taylor (1) to cap the 5th
run 5th inning. The Mets scored their only run in the bottom of the 8th
on a sac fly by pinch hitter Eric Campbell.
Montero went 5 allowing 7 hits 5 runs (all earned) walking 2 and
striking out 4. He falls to 0-3. Fister scattered 7 hits over his 7 scoreless
getting this 12th win. Offensively Daniel Murphy, David Wright and
Wilmer Flores had 2 hits apiece in the loss. Wright extends his hit streak to
11 games. The Nationals continue to dominate the Mets having now won 8 of 10 on
the year and 9 straight over the Mets at Citi field. The Mets are now 57-63 on the year and are 28-28
at home. Wednesday night is game two of the three game affair, Bartolo Colon
(11-9 3.97) goes for the Mets, Jordan
Zimmerman (7-5 3.06) goes for Washington.
