Tim Tebow, who currently plays for the New York Mets Eastern
League Affiliate-the Binghamton Rumble Ponies of the Eastern League was named
to the Eastern League All-Star Team last Friday in his second full season in
the Mets minor league system. What
mostly helped him achieve this honor was that he has been sizzling and has had
an amazing month of June by batting approximately .323/.353/.462 in his last twenty
games. He currently is batting .261 with five home runs. Tebow is a hard worker
and it has paid off because he currently is a tough out. He is more patient at
the plate and not swinging at that many pitches out of the strike zone. He is a
strong guy and hits fastballs well.
When Tebow first came to Binghamton he immediately became popular
with the local fans at the annual Binghamton Rumble Ponies dinner by visiting
with them, being sociable by posing for photos and signing autographs. Tebow also
constantly signs autographs and will even pose for pictures for fans at games.
He also signs between games of a doubleheader. His success from his college
football days of two national titles and winning a Heisman trophy at Florida had
created an impact in attendance. His popularity had helped the Florida state
league boost attendance by 12.4% during his first year in the minor leagues.
Hopefully during the next few months, he can to the same for Binghamton attendance
if he is not promoted.
There is a possibility that Tebow will receive a promotion
to AAA Las Vegas in August. If things continue to go right he might get called
up to the parent NY Mets in September since the Mets will not be contenders. It
will be interesting to see how Tebow does against major league pitching. Tebow will
be joined at the All-Star game which will be played on July 11 at Arm
and Hammer Park in Trenton N.J. by his Rumble Ponies teammates: Nabil
Crismatt, Patrick Mazeika,
Levi Michael, and Daniel Zamora. Congratulations to all five players on a job
well done! Keep up the good work!

He's proving me wrong every day.
Still, there is no room for him in the 2019 Mets outfield.
Previous contracts have created a lock here. Bruce, Cespedes, and Lagares can not be moved and they will be part of the 5 OFers needed with Conforto and Nimmo.
The only hope is if the Mets can move Bruce.

Tebow is closing in, hitting-wise, on Bruce if Bruce remains damaged goods.
Lagares will play 2 weeks next year, then miss the rest of the season with injuries.
Mack, if this season shows us anything, is that we will need more than 5 OFs in 2019. Brittle is the code word.
