Mack – Transactions: Jason Krizan , Brad Brach, Luc Rennie, Edwin Diaz

Thursday, August 8th

Hey now…

I took two days off and nothing happened in Metville, right.

Anyway, let’s catch up on some of the transactions that took place these two lost days and get back to Thursday’s movements and kudo:

OF Jason Krizan was promoted from AA-Binghamton to AAA-Syracuse. He was back to Bing by the next day. This is classic example of a “paper move”. No airfare, no travel at all. Just stay in the closet until we figure thigs out.

Justin Houle was added to AA-Binghamton from A+ St. Lucie
The Mets signed RP Brad Brach.

The 33-year old Brach has pitched in the majors for parts of 9 seasons (466-appearances, 35-26, 3.32, 1.31, 493.2-IP, 529-K), the last being this year for the Cubs.

David Rubin reports that he was overpitched this season, with 42 appearances, including his last two outings that he gave up 8 runs. He had a 3.70-ERA before those two outings.

He is a very good late season for the league minimum.
Local boy from New Jersey.

The Mets sent RP Donnie Hart to AAA-Syracuse

The Mets transferred OF Brandon Nimmo to the 60-day injured list which opened up a 40-man slot

      Kudos –

AAA-Syracuse – SP Drew Gagnon: 8-IP, 0-R, 5-K

I know he failed miserable as a reliever in Queens this season (15-appearances, 7.75), but he seems to be recreating himself as a successful starter, at least at the AAA level (12-starts, 2.15)

AA-Binghamton – RF Quinn Brodey: 2-4, R

            A+ St. Lucie – SP Luc Rennie: 7-IP, 0-R, 1-K

I still don’t know how to grade this off-again, on-again 25-year old. Original 16th round pick by Baltimore, out of Torry Pines (CA) HS.
His numbers just don’t fly off the table, but then every once in a while, he comes up with one of these gems.

A-Columbia – 3B Mark Vientos: 2-6, 2-R, 12th HR, 2-RBI

Low-A Brooklyn – RP Jared Biddy: 2.1-IP, 0-R, 3-K, 0.00

Rookie-Kingsport – RP Nick McDonald: 2-IP, 0-R, 2-K

DSL-1 – RP Marco Villegas: 2.1-IP, 0-R, 2-K

DSL-2 – SP Rolfy Vargas: 5-IP, 0-R, 8-K

Lastly…

      (((Zach Weber))) - @ZachMWeber –

Edwin Diaz ranks second in the majors with a 14.52 K per 9 ratio.

He trails only fellow 2018 MLB Reliever of the Year Josh Hader (16.43).

Last year he pitched against those weak AL bats (sic).

I think Brach can help the Mets
