Missing Darren O'Day

Hat tip to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse for pointing out a seemingly minor roster move early in the 2009 season that the Mets are surely regretting today.

O'Day has pitched better than Francisco Rodriguez, better than JJ Putz, better than even Pedro Feliciano - by far the most effective and reliable Met reliever in 2009. There was no reason to release him in the first place; Omar Minaya had several players with minor-league options on his roster than he could have demoted to make room for Figueroa.
