DRAFT: - Cameron Rupp, Kyle Parker, Jesse Biddle, Jarryd Summers... and Willy Kesler

Cameron Rupp:

5-11 from: - http://baseballdraftreport.com/  - 8. Texas JR C Cameron Rupp - Now we’re finally getting to some college catching prospects with legit plus tools. In Rupp’s case, it’s plus raw power and a plus throwing arm. The raw power is hard to argue with, though there is some concern it’s more of a pure physical strength power rather than quick wrists and a classic swing kind of power. Rupp’s arm strength has been called above-average in some places, but, for me, his arm becomes a plus tool when you combine that above-average throwing power with his incredibly precise throwing accuracy. Arm and power, check. As for the other three tools, well, that’s more of a mixed bag. His running speed is well below-average and his long swing has enough holes against breaking pitches to keep him from ever having anything more than a league average bat. His defense, however, gives him a third above-average tool, especially his surprisingly nimble lateral movement behind the plate.

Kyle Parker:

5-11 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/05/10/acc-players-of-the-week-23  - Clemson junior outfielder/first baseman Kyle Parker has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week. Parker went 10-for-16 (.625) with five doubles, one homer, seven RBIs, seven runs, five walks, one hit-by-pitch, a 1.125 slugging percentage, and a .727 on-base percentage in leading Clemson to a 4-0 record May 3-9. The Jacksonville, Fla., junior totaled at least one run, one hit, one RBI, one extra-base hit, and one walk in each of the four games and had three three-hit games. Parker’s biggest hit of the week came on Sunday at Maryland, when he hit a three-run homer with two outs in the sixth inning to give Clemson a 7-5 lead (the eventual final score). On the season, he is hitting .392 with 17 homers, 10 doubles, 50 RBIs, 58 runs, a .759 slugging percentage, and a .519 on-base percentage in 45 games.

Jesse Biddle:

5-11 from: - http://baseballbeginnings.com/2010/05/11/jesse-biddle-report  - PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Power build, broad shoulders, wide hips and thighs, strong lower half, built for the long haul.

STRENGTHS: FB 90-93 with room for more, above-average FB movement, late life. Curveball 73, some shape, was developing power when I saw him. CH at 85, a little too hard. Good extension, balance and downhill for a tall pitcher.

WEAKNESSES: Slightly below-average fastball control when I saw him, should grade up to average in coming years. Looking forward to seeing change-up development next time I see him.

SUMMARY: Really liked this prospect in very limited look. Thought there should be more in his arm in the years to come. Looking forward to seeing how secondary stuff and conditioning has developed since I last saw him.

GRADES (Present/Future):

Fastball 50/60 - Curveball 30/50 - Change-up 30/50 - Command 30/50 - Control 30/50 - Overall Future Potential: 52

Jarryd Summers:

5-11 from: - http://perfectgame.atinfopop.com/4/OpenTopic?q=Y&a=tpc&s=114295945&f=6174069131&m=4361060202&p=6  - RHP , Jarryd Summers, W Virginia, 6'4 1/2 210, loosey goosey, 88-89 mostly, some 90-92 on occasion, sinker type fb with run in on RHH, breaking ball slurvy, but effective, not a power pitcher but can be a good set up, middle guy, spot starter with pro instruction and more physical maturation, could end up in the bigs in 3-4 years too. Has another year of eligibility. One of top pitchers in the conference so I'm told. He looked like a 8-12 rounder type, but wouldn't be surprised if he's taken earlier because he loves baseball and will sign for fair offer.

Willy Kesler:

5-12-10 from: - http://collegebaseball360.com/2010/05/11/cb360-primetime-performers-12-may-11  - New Mexico senior righthander Willy Kesler (Thornton, Colo.) has been named the national Primetime Pitcher of the Week. Kesler rose to the challenge during game-2 of the Mountain West Conference showdown series versus a potent TCU squad that was 12th in the CB360 Composite National Rankings (UNM was #32). The 6-foot, 215-pound righthander went the distance in the near-shutout win (3-2), outdueling TCU sophomore RHP Kyle Winkler (who entered the game with a 7-0 record).
