DRAFT: - Kolbrin Vitek, Anthony Ranuado, Kevin Gausman, Christian Colon... and Rico Noel

Kolbrin Vitek:
5-18 from: - http://www.prospectjunkies.com/  - While Vitek may be the best two-way player in College Baseball this season and was recently named the Mid-American Conference West Division "MAC" pitcher of the week, there is little doubt that his future is as a position player. While probably an unfair speculation on my part because he plays for a small conference, I think Vitek will be an easy sign. That factor, combined with him being one of the more advanced bats in the draft make him a safe bet to go in the mid to late portion of the first round. While I don't think he'll ever be a star in the League, his above average collection tools combined with his advanced bat make him a safe bet to reach the major leagues and contribute as an everyday player.

Anthony Ranuado:

5-16 from: - http://baseballbeginnings.com/2010/05/16/lsu-scouting-updates  - “His arm speed and mechanics look good, but he hasn’t been the same. He looks like he’s 100 percent, but he’s not the same dominating guy he was in the Fall. Nobody is sure if he’s not healthy or just not hitting his spots. His fastball velocity is 90-92.”

Kevin Gausman:

5-16 from: - http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=2142  - • Grandview High righthander Kevin Gausman from Centennial, Colo. has slipped a little bit on teams' draft boards because he came out of the gate slowly, sitting more 89-92 mph with his fastball. In his defense, he pitched as much or more than any high schooler this summer, then played basketball all winter and then had to pitch in nasty Colorado weather for most of the year. He was back up to 93-95 in his last outing, but his fastball tends to be flat and teams are also underwhelmed with his curveball and changeup. Gausman's team is in the playoffs and there will likely be a lot of scouting interest in those games, but scheduling could be tricky after Centennial got six inches of snow yesterday.

Christian Colon:

5-17 from: - link  - Colon has done nothing but produce this spring, impressing scouts with how much his bat has progressed in the last two years. In 2010, Colon is in another world, hitting .341 with 14 homers and 51 RBI. He is slick in the field and nearly every scout is compelled to comment on Colon's work ethic and character. However, as he is represented by Scott Boras Corp., there have been increasing talk that Colon might be more difficult to sign than he was perhaps earlier in the season, considering the phenomenal season he has had. While he moves down a couple of notches, it isn't because of performance, but as the draft nears, signability always looms large.

Rico Noel:

5-17 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/05/17/big-south-players-of-the-week-11  - Coastal Carolina junior outfielder Rico Noel (Lawton, Okla.) has been named the Big South Conference’s Choice Hotels Player of the Week. Noel batted .500 (6-12) with six runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, two home runs, eight walks and five stolen bases in four wins last week, which included a three-game sweep of Liberty. He started the week going 3-4 with a home run and two stolen bases in the 10-4 win over Winthrop last Monday. He also had a walk and an outfield assist in the victory. Noel then went 2-3 with a double, home run, two walks and a steal in Friday’s 5-2 win at Liberty. In game two, Noel drew four walks, was hit-by-pitch, scored twice and stole two more bases in the 7-1 victory. He ended the week going 1-4 with a run scored and a double in Sunday’s 5-0 win over the Flames. Noel registered a .714 on-base percentage and 1.167 slugging percentage last week.
