Bisons Place Pridie, Cintron on Disabled List

Malo, Garcia and De La Torre Promoted to Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that they have placed OF JASON PRIDIE (right hamstring strain) and INF ALEX CINTRON (left wrist sprain) on the disabled list.

The Bisons also announced that INF JONATHAN MALO and RHP JOSE DE LA TORRE have been promoted to the Herd from Double-A Binghamton. OF EMMANUAL GARCIA has been added to Buffalo’s roster from the Single-A St. Lucie Mets.

Pridie was injured in last night’s defeat to the Charlotte Knights. Cintron was injured in Friday’s 5-3 victory over the Norfolk Tides and is being placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 17.

Malo, 26, has spent the entire 2010 season with Binghamton and has hit .232 (16-69) with five doubles, two triples, a home run and 10RBI in 25 games. He has reached base safely in each of his last nine games with the B-Mets. With Binghamton, Malo has already seen time at second base, shortstop, left field and centerfield.

De La Torre, 24, returns to the Bisons for a second time in 2010. The reliever was with the Herd from April 14-17, but did not pitch. In 15 appearances with Binghamton, De La Torre has a 2.05ERA and two saves (22.0IP, 16H, 5R, 5ER, 12BB, 22K). He has allowed more than one hit in just two of 15 appearances and hasn’t yielded a run over his last four outings (4.1IP).

Garcia, 23, has played 31 games for Single-A St. Lucie this season and hit .246 (30-122) with five doubles and eight RBI. Garcia ranks fourth in the Florida State League with 16 stolen bases in only 19 attempts. He has stolen multiple bases in a game on five separate occasions in 2010.

Garcia is a former Olympian, having played for Team Canada in the Summer Games in Beijing in 2008.

The Bisons now have six players on their disabled list: RHP JACK EGBERT (right elbow impingement), RHP CARLOS MUNIZ (right arm surgery, 2009), INF MIKE CERVENAK (right plantar fasciitis) and OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ (left hamstring strain) are also injured.
