Mets Select Contract of Bisons’ R.A. Dickey
Knuckleballer to Start for New York TONIGHT in Washington
The New York Mets today announced that they have selected the contract of RHP R.A DICKEY from the Buffalo Bisons. Dickey is scheduled to start for the Mets tonight against the Nationals in Washington (7:05 p.m.).
Dickey, 35, had spent the entire season with the Bisons, going 4-2 with a 2.23ERA in eight starts (60.2IP, 55H, 21R, 15ER, 8BB, 37K). His ERA is the third-lowest in the International League. The knuckleballer also leads the IL with two complete games and a 1.04 WHIP. He has thrown 9.2 more innings than any other pitcher in the circuit (60.2).
Dickey worked eight or more innings in six of his eight starts. He threw a complete-game one-hit shutout on April 29 against Durham. In that contest, he retired the final 27 batters he faced after a lead-off single in the first inning. Dickey also threw a complete game on April 14 in Pawtucket (9.0IP, 9H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 5K).
