Mets:
Tomas Nido‏ @tnido24 - Can't wait to start this part of my life and can't be any happier that my boy @RobWhalen25 will join me in the same organization!

SP Chris Schwinden is no longer a Blue Jay. He’s now an Indian. He was claimed off of waivers. And you thought Dylan Owen had a bad day.

There's a number of steps that would go into determining the value of a player (or value added to a team) through a player's utility, but today I'd like to take a first (and not final) step in that direction. To start, we need some sort of measure that can compare players and their positional utility, and to do so, I'm creating something that I call a McEwing Score (McE). McEwing Score is named after Joe McEwing, a utility player for the Cardinals, Mets, Royals and Astros who never played less than six different positions during a full season. As a Mets fan, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the scrappy McEwing, who could play anywhere and provides this new junk stat with a great acronym. - BTBS

AAA – Buffalo:
RHP Edgar Ramirez transferred from Binghamton (AA) to Buffalo (AAA)
1B-2B Josh Satin has been designated for assignment (DFA). Josh was a good Mets friend of mine and, frankly, I hope some good team with an opening claims him. He just isn’t part of the plan around here, which just is. Satin does very little wrong, but his only greatness is his wit, intelligence, good looks, and a killer spray bat. We should about this time tomorrow what is shakin’ bacon.
Nice 1st-inning HR by 2B Brad Emaus (3rd)… Mets were smart to resign him and place him in Buffalo. Could be a late season injury trump card… this is a real non-prospect lineup tonight, except for SP Jeurys FamiliaMatt Tuiasosopo played CF…  Familia had his velo early, sitting 94-96, and hitting 97… thru 4 innings - 4K, BB, 63 pitches/40 strikes… done:  5.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K, 97-P, 59-K

And then there's Jeurys Familia, who was signed by the Mets in 2007 as a 17-year-old. Now at age 22, the power right-hander from the Dominican Republic is rated the third-highest prospect in the Mets' organization. MLB - There's never been a question about Familia's talent, as he consistently hits the upper-90s with his fastball. However, he is struggling at Triple-A Buffalo this season with an ERA climbing into the high fours. Still, Familia is expected to be up in the Major Leagues relatively soon, as his power arm is one of the best in the system.

AA-Binghamton
RHP Ryan Fraser transferred from St. Lucie (High-A) to Binghamton (AA)
The B-Mets scored 3-runs in the first for SP Collin McHugh… once again it seemed like everyone participated in that inning, except for Reese Havens… another QS for Collin – 6.2-IP, 6-H, 2-R, 5-K, 1-BB, 2.22… then Robert Carson muffed it charged two more to McHugh. THIS is what I hate about ERA!
CF Matt den Dekker - 60-K in 220-AB

A+ - St. Lucie: -
CF Alonzo Harris (.275) got thing going with a lead-off HR (2nd) in the first… On the bump was hanging-by-a-string Yohan Almonte  Cory Vaughn back in the lineup (whew)… excellent seven innings by Almonte – 0-R, 6-H, 3-K, 1-BB, 3.69… quick 3-1 win.

A – Savannah:

A fun what-if question: To what lengths would the Mets, mired in misfortune as they are, do to have Dylan Bundy pitch for their organization?  Well, the answer may be moot: New York has its Bundy -- only his name is Michael Fulmer. Heard of him? Fulmer is also 19, also uses his right arm to deliver high-90-mph heat, also emerged from an Oklahoma high school and also was selected early in the 2011 Draft. In fact, Fulmer was tabbed 44th overall, not long after in-state rivals Bundy (fourth overall) and Archie Bradley (seventh), who are now No. 8 and No. 17, respectively, among MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects. - MiLB

Well, so much for the press update…  SP Logan Verrett started tonight so I assume he’s off the DL… no-hitter through 2 (give it a rest, Mack)…  LF Dustin Lawley (.324 for last 10-games) with two more hits tonight…  Verrett pitched 6.1 innings of no-hit ball… 6.1-IP,  3-H, 0-R, 4-K, 1-BB, 1.86… same thing (as Binghamton) when Marcos Camarena muffs and Verrett gets charged a run. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr… a wrap at 8-1… 3-H, 3-RBI for SS T.J. Rivera (.333)…Jeffrey Walters: 1.09

DSL Mets:

2B Merqui Marmolejos – 2-3, 1-R, 1-HR, 2-RBI, .333
SS Jose Martinez – 2-4, .429
Piggy-P Jesus Lugo – 4.0-IP, 1-ER, 5-K, 0-BB, 1.59

Thomas Nido is my favorite pick in that draft class.
